Today he’s a beacon of reprimanding his readers. It’s always a breath of fresh air.
I seem to remember being told last season that Morin needed to work out his positioning problems in the AHL, that they couldn’t afford those growing ains in the show. Now we’re allowing Sanheim to work through them on the Flyers. Meanwhile Morin still has work to do. IMHO Sanheim has shown consistently more trouble finding his lanes. I have faith both of them are going to be excellent defensemen.
Of course what do I know with my inability to learn fom 5 decades of watching hockey at every level. - mayorofangrytown
Coaches know much better than we do and they are infallible. So we have been told.
Right now, with the injuries, Sanheim is being asked to be a 2/3 guy rather than playing sheltered minutes on the 3rd pair where he should be right now. He was dominant at the AHL level during the 2nd half of last season, so I'm not sure what else he could learn there. IMO, 3rd pair NHL play would be the best thing for his development right now.
Morin, when all were healthy, was just a victim of the numbers game. I also think a little more time in the AHL to work on the little things and refine his game isn't the worst thing. That being said, once AMac went down, I would have preferred the big guy in the lineup over Manning, but oh well. |

A fundamental of player development is that each player is an individual and should be treated as such. The approach for one player is not automatically the same approach that should be taken with another player.

Senseless comment. That statement needed to be made based on what was posted in the post I quoted.
I'll be sure to reply in kind next time you make a point that some would consider obvious. That reply simply does not further the conversation |

No response was NEEDED, no ones life would be any worse if the response had not been made. Your response was your usual passive/aggressive snarkiness. Your act is getting old. |

Bill has always been a players guy. He almost always has their backs. I’m not opposed to that but he’s been drinking a little too much kool-aid lately and deriding your readership is never a good thing to read whether you feel like part of that derision or not.
Targeting long term fans and readers and telling them they haven’t learned anything after decades of following the sport is never a good look and hugely presumptive. Let’s say hope against hope Sanheim flounders and never recovers. As much as I like Bill and, working in papers, like most of the msm with one exception, it almost never works to assume as a writer your opinion is “better” than those of your readership. It never works in your favor. |

Bill posting that was really towards a minority on the site whose opinions of certain players is so far off base to be humorous. To characterize it as a general attack against his readership base is off base in my opinion. Many of us have varying degrees of opinions on player but generally it is within the realm of sanity on the sport.
Bill's blog and statements towards that were well written and even contained some info and food for thought for those who are informed. |
