he generates next to no offense and isn't very good defensively. I dunno how im hard on him, there are options FA every year that are clear upgrades for roughly the same price

right, but if you address the little ones like this you'll notice decent improvement. The big ones will take time, in the meantime these are very fixable as early as this off season that could make us a decent team next year.
