It's so sad that any hockey fan that is paying any bit of attention knew this was coming the moment they signed the last contract. - Buffalo--Sabres
Major League Baseball, the NFL, and the NBA all figured out a way to avoid a work stoppage last time around. I'm hopeful the NHL does too. |

Seriously though, did anyone outside of Ottawa, or perhaps the Canadian media, think they were going to be an ECF team again? That run always seemed too good to be true. |

I like Duclair, reminds me of Kane. Maybe more upside potential cause he seems to have a better head on his shoulders for a young guy. Kane at his age was an azz hat - lulags

I was suggesting Reinhart and Risto for Duclair and OEL a while ago. Now sam has fallen on hard times, so i shall add a 3rd |

Bumble(frank) Bettman will screw this up. I think he wants to. This is the same guy who doesn't see that marketing value in the Olympics. |

Kind of funny that after OV's protestations and threats, Leonsis's vote of confidence and finally the NHL's ruling regarding the Olympics, he couldn't have played for Komrade Putin anyway |

I don't know this side of the game the way most here seem to but my understanding is that in those leagues the owners have all the leverage and the players are just trying to get as much of the "pie" as they can.
With the NHL being a gate driven league it seems inevitable that it will always result in some work stoppage cause the players seem to have far more power here and the owners clearly hate that. |

Intrigued?
What do you think that cost would be?
Gotta imagine that makes the ROR deal look tiny, if that's possible. |

I agree, asking for Buffalo to eat 2 million is too much, I would be hoping for them to eat a million per year and even that I doubt. I think whoever suggested Connor straight up is a very fair deal. Asking for Trouba or Morrisey plus Connor or Raslovic is too much. As much as I know how much he'd help us now it would probably mean we can not re sign Wheeler in a year. I was hoping for a Logan Stanley and first rounder deal, maybe throw in a Nic Petan or Marko Dano. But I totally get why you want and expext Connor or Raslovic back. - Ross77
