What I don't understand is that players are not getting their full pay contract money but yet the cap goes up. If there is extra money shouldn't it go back to the players. Whatever is left from that, that's how much the cap should go up?

Escrow is the insurance policy in case league revenues don’t reach their forecasted values. I’m pretty sure players do receive their full salary if the league earns its full revenue.

According to that chart, the players were giving back 10% some years, After the refund. The cap has gone up just about every year. If the league isn't earning it's full revenue, how is the cap still going up?

There’s this stupid mechanism where they forecast league revenue and the union has the option increasing the cap or not. I’m no capologist, but in general I think union = want cap go up, league = want cap stay low.

So, in trying to find a quote from Benning on Subban/Forsling, I came across all kinds of old blogs, Redit posts etc about how stupid he is. Now, I’m not here to defend Mr. Jim Benning’s intelligence, he is (was) among the worst public speakers in the North American sports industry. He does not sound smart (full stop).

Here’s what I do find amusing however. A lot of the criticisms, when you look back, are wrong themselves. The last blog post I started to read I couldn’t finish because the author who was calling out Jimbo for how stupid he is was equally as stupid.
