Carol Schram: Bo Horvat missed as Vancouver Canucks fall to Flyers, Jordan Subban traded In their first game without injured centre Bo Horvat, the Vancouver Canucks dropped a listless 4-1 decision to the Philadelphia Flyers. Later Thursday night, Jim Benning dealt AHL defenseman Jordan Subban to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for grinding forward Nic Dowd.

LA should bite the bullet and have Subban develop as a winger.

Vanek? Are we headed for 8 starters out by Jan 1?

On the Buffalo Sabres and Philadelphia Flyers …

Shawn Simpson: Watch for goaltender Robin Lehner to the Philadelphia Flyers.

Nucks definitely got the better end of this trade. Dowd got screwed over in LA.
He will be a good addition.

Well Obviously. JB gets the better player in every trade.

Underrated loss. One of the best forwards on the team so far this year.

Scoring is going to be hard if he's out for awhile too.

Once thing really stood out to me in last nights game. Virtanen is really easy to get off the puck and he does not seem to battle as hard as he should. He has some great nifty moves, but man he gets stripped of the puck a lot. He also does not seem to be hitting very much anymore.

I am glad we made the Dowd move, we need the extra depth and the extra size.

Brendan Batchlor reporting that Travis Green is very vocal and pushing players in practice. Stressing importance of little details. Holding players accountable

Thanks Carol if you get any update of why Vanek was not at practice let us know. As for Dowd why couldn't he make it from LA in time for practice?

All it takes is an employment letter and stamp at border for TN approval. Who dropped the ball on this one?

You'd think with all the strong players like Bo, Vanek and gritty Sutter out they would want Dowd in line up against Flames.

That take on Dowd is not right. He’s a very creative passer, great vision. He doesn’t shoot (last year one of the lowest shots/60 in the league I think) and his defensive numbers struggle anytically (though I never saw it with the eye test) but to call him not creative is just well wrong. Good luck to him, in the correct role he may bring 40 pts IMO, Stevens played him 8 minutes a night out of position in the wrong role.

Yeah, from what I've read from your fanbase he's a good playmaker, has some grit, not a scorer and struggled defensively(although his possession numbers are strong).

Apparently his eye test defense is weak, will be interesting to watch him play.
