Yeah, I think both teams had this mindset with this deal. - Nucker101
We gave Subban more attention than his play warranted because of his last name, but this is a minor trade involving fringe NHL players. It will be talked about more but this trade is more minor than Pouliot for Pedan. |

Had hoped JB could have capitalized on Subban's point numbers and moved him in the off season for much needed prospect center help for Comets. Was harping on this need but naysayers said Chaput and Megna were good enough.
So with diminishing asset will take the developed and older Dowd as good enough now. He probably has more of a chance to carve a role and get resigned over Burmi, Chaput & Megna for next season. - Nuck4U

I am not sure he's much better then Megna or Chaput. Maybe slightly more physical. |

Pouliot is working out well eh. Not only proving he can play in the NHL as a solid 3rd pair guy on either side but also play top four minutes. If you trade a 4th & throw in AHLer for a guy who turns out to be a solid 4/5 D for years to come that's a big trade. |

We moved from Vancouver and love it so far. We weren't really taking advantage of what Vancouver has to offer so for us it was just overcrowded and expensive. - CubanBuffet
Right on!
Vancouver Island is fantastic and has so much to offer and don't miss much if anything from the city.
You're a good poster. |

Well even if he's slightly better in all categories on them that's an upgrade. Though looking at his stats, eye test on clips and TG's input from playoffs and level of interest he's got a leg up on them and Burmi right now. With big hole at center now he could prove his worth right away. |

The point was preference. As in, would have wanted to trade Subban in off season for developing prospect Center. So a developed NHL ready one with limited upside is fine in exchange on going nowhere Subban. |

He wasn't over 50% on face-offs last season.
8 of his 22 points on the PP.
He's probably a very short term guy who can play infront of net on the PP and take a face-off. Hit someone. |

Developing prospect centers are traded for no good AHL D all the time. |

I'd take a look in the mirror on what you call warped recollections. I was the one posting to get a prospect center for Comets when we knew EP and Gaudette wouldn't be there.
Not only for depth for call up but development for prospect wingers. Especially at time when it was thought BB, Dahlen, Goldy and JV would be there.
Suggested trade chip Subban for teams that had center depth like Boston and others. But the responses ranged from let the wingers prove it on their own to Chaput and Megna are good enough AHLrs.
Anyway let that go when the time passed. My point was JB could have made more out of overhyped Subban. Its minor now and an ended chapter. Just like the other AHLer Pedan he tossed. At least he pulled that trigger. |

we knew his capabilities...but I was hoping the hype over his offensive numbers would entice another team loaded at center and lacking/needing a PP guy for an AHL prospect lateral trade. |
