I'd take a look in the mirror on what you call warped recollections. I was the one posting to get a prospect center for Comets when we knew EP and Gaudette wouldn't be there.

Not only for depth for call up but development for prospect wingers. Especially at time when it was thought BB, Dahlen, Goldy and JV would be there.

Suggested trade chip Subban for teams that had center depth like Boston and others. But the responses ranged from let the wingers prove it on their own to Chaput and Megna are good enough AHLrs.

Anyway let that go when the time passed. My point was JB could have made more out of overhyped Subban. Its minor now and an ended chapter. Just like the other AHLer Pedan he tossed. At least he pulled that trigger.

He's happy in Penticton. I'd trade him for Belcher, though.

L.A. Kings sign WHL Portland goalie Cole Kehler. Undrafted, he's been one of hottest in league this season. In what looks to be a shallow draft for goalies, this could be a savvy move

The so-called "naysayers"(your words), said they are adequate minor league players. Several people, including myself have wanted more centres in the system and have stated that regularly.
You were told then that you over-value Subban if you think he would fetch a prospect centre.
It would be like me stating we should have traded prospect centre Cassels for Sanheim, totally unrealistic.

Cuban has a NTC, he'd have to waive in order to move to the island.

Cuban is a high skilled poster. If I lived on the Island I would offer Lefty and Codes.

I didn't include you with the naysayers so why identify with them? Nor do I recall any input from you on that specific topic with me as you were away most of the time. Yeah you have always said draft more centers. I am with you on this point.

But you are wrong about the responses I got from others on Center need with Comets and Subban trade chip. It wasn't he couldn't get you the targets I had suggested. They were not high drafted prospects. They were comparable on track prospects (3rd-5th round) with upside potential on teams deep at Center position. The value would have been higher for Canucks to have them continue to develop with Comets with more opportunity.

I never over valued Subban and was perplexed about the fuss over him. But I saw he had good numbers last season in the year of the small D man emerging and thought trade high on the hype. Before he's really exposed. Remember Cull, as opposition coach, thought high of him. But may of us knew better to fall for the hype and just hoped someone else would.

Kings already have a top goaltending prospect in Cal Petersen. Kid was amazing in training camp this season, but they elected to go with Kuemper as the more experienced option. They also have Jack Campbell, who also had a strong camp showing, and who is putting up solid number in Ontario on the goaltending tandem with Petersen. Throw Kehler in the mix, and there will be an interesting logjam in goal next season.

The obvious move would be to promote Campbell to be Quick's backup since he is no longer waiver exempt while Petersen & Kehler are, but Petersen is outperforming him in the AHL so far this season.

It's certainly a good problem to have.

Because of his camels, Lefty has some value. Even though a little clingy at times, Codes is also a valued Islander.
