Fair enough however...if we had a top 16 club 'many' if not all of the players Makita mentioned would be up/down there to the AHL. Fringe or not it's just reality. I do agree that many can play their way on to a club and if they earn it rightfully so. Just appears that we have almost a bakers dozen 'fringe guys'.lol - LordHumungous
Definitely, my point was just that the quantity accentuates the problems. They arent awful players, but they make mistakes that are compounded by their equally inexperienced linemate also making a mistake. I would have loved to keep them all in the minors and grow together but the NHL club still does not want to openly admit to rebuilding |

I somewhat agree and somewhat don't, if you were to say one player makes the line up and has limited minutes and exposure then I agree...Virtanen is a perfect example of that strategy.
But to fill the team with developing players (IMO) is ruining their development, Stecher and Hutton are prime examples. I thought both would have had higher ceilings, but both are atrocious defenders because they are too heavily relied on. - Makita
It was hard to convey in my original post, but this was kinda where I was going with it. I agree with this 100%
Edit: This piece from Canuck Army reiterates it a bit. Hutton, Virtanen, Burmistrov are the culprits on minor mistakes that end up resulting in a goal - https://canucksarmy.com/2...tion-bias-and-ben-hutton/ |

And that is the shame of this team, be honest with the fan base, but they are still lying to sell tickets, the great thing is most of the fan base understands what's going on and is just waiting for Aquilini to take the rebuild step. It should happen when the Sedins are gone, but if they are signed for another year, then the true rebuild is held up for another year and we will start to look like the Oilers.
just sick and tired of this stupid rebuild on the fly crap. |

When they wouldnt use the word rebuild last year (I think it was Trevor that said the reporter could call it what he wanted?) thats when I had doubts they were going to keep on the path. I will admit, it seems they are taking care of their top prospects like Golodbin, OJ, Dahlen, Pettersson properly, but I still am concerned that they avoid Vanek-type free agents in order to showcase the kids in the NHL |

Good news is he could be back on the ice soon, but bad is the soft tissue issue could linger and affect him after he comes back |

I know that you are being factual with the "only one 1 regular "Comet" player", but the real weird thing is that, there are several players on the Canucks that should be in the AHL learning to develop properly. They shouldn't be on the Canucks learning how to develop properly, that to me is one of the most asinine situations for the team and player.
But on the other side there are several "fans" that want to see this type of failure, as I have stated several times in the past, (only to get roasted for this), the AHL is where players should learn to develop, the team should sign a bunch of one-two year guys and let, Stecher, Hutton, Goldobin, Virtanen, Gaunce, Dowd, Biega, Chaput, Megna, Boucher, Holm, etc., learn, practice, develop, and make the mistakes there. - Makita

Be realistic, one good player will not keep them away from that top 3-5 spot, I would place the team as finishing in the 29th or 30th spot at seasons end, Colorado and Edmonton will surpass the Canucks as will, Detroit, Florida, Buffalo, Ottawa, and Montreal...Arizona I'm not sure they will. - Makita
