Carol Schram: Another injury for the Vancouver Canucks. Yup, this time it's Brock Boeser. The Vancouver Canucks lost 6-1 to the Calgary Flames on Sunday but they also lost their star rookie Brock Boeser to a foot injury after a shot block early in the second period.

Thanks Carol,

It seems like Kole Lind isn't afraid to drop them.

If the Nucks didn't have bad luck this season, they'd have no luck at all.

This stinks. Future still looks very bright for the organization though.

Carol, this article was courtesy of Ryan Biech, in regards to that question I was asking about McEneny and Myers.

Thanks Carol no words for the mounting injuries derailing development. Those young players left will not get the support they need now. But will try to show they can do something for more ice time.

When is Dahlen free from his contract to come over to Comets? Is that after Christmas break?

It's nothing new...we pretty much have 7-8 starters out by Jan 1 and have 10 AHL players in the lineup. We just don't currently have the depth to play our way through injuries. Maybe in a few years.

Weird thing is that only 1 regular "Comet" player was actually in the lineup last night, and it was Goldobin. All other players have played more games with the Canucks than the Comets this year.

Gaunce has played more games in Vancouver than Utica. Dowd was on the Kings roster all year. Biega has been on the roster all season long. Burmistrov as well. JV and DP too.

And then it's the same guys as last year + the new old guys.

Chapoo sat out.

True. Having said that we still have 10 players dressing that belong in the AHL.

My bad should have worded that differently in the other post.

I know that you are being factual with the "only one 1 regular "Comet" player", but the real weird thing is that, there are several players on the Canucks that should be in the AHL learning to develop properly. They shouldn't be on the Canucks learning how to develop properly, that to me is one of the most asinine situations for the team and player.

But on the other side there are several "fans" that want to see this type of failure, as I have stated several times in the past, (only to get roasted for this), the AHL is where players should learn to develop, the team should sign a bunch of one-two year guys and let, Stecher, Hutton, Goldobin, Virtanen, Gaunce, Dowd, Biega, Chaput, Megna, Boucher, Holm, etc., learn, practice, develop, and make the mistakes there.

which is ideally what this club needs moving forward. Not to be a negative Nelly but this dream of the PO's by MNGT needs to end and the Boeser injury should send all that crashing down. If Pettersson cracks the lineup next year and few draft choices end up having impact we are set. Demko soon. It will all fall into place.

This is what I believe also, the team is emulating other failure clubs, the team could change their name to Vancouver Coyotes, Vancouver Sabres, Vancouver Oilers, all perennial failure clubs

I dont necessarily think that the bolded is particularly true in that they "belong" there. I think compared to a top 10 team, yes there would probably be around 10 that wouldnt make the roster; but on an individual assessment I think that only a few really belong down there.

To me the issue is that there are so many borderline NHLers that the result is bad for all. There is no insulation or sheltered minutes available, all are getting overexposed in situations to the point where it's almost detrimental to their development and they now waivers are required to be sent down unfortunately

If the Canucks were a top 10 team then some of those players would be traded away for parts needed to make the final push.

Fair enough however...if we had a top 16 club 'many' if not all of the players Makita mentioned would be up/down there to the AHL. Fringe or not it's just reality. I do agree that many can play their way on to a club and if they earn it rightfully so. Just appears that we have almost a bakers dozen 'fringe guys'.lol

Agreed, there would still be room on the roster for some and desired by others.

A team in the top half of the standings would like to have a Stecher/Hutton as their #6/7D; and I think that Virtanen and Gaunce would be useful on a 4th line; Vancouver unfortunately needs them to play higher in the lineup and pair them with players of equal stature, making things very challenging

I somewhat agree and somewhat don't, if you were to say one player makes the line up and has limited minutes and exposure then I agree...Virtanen is a perfect example of that strategy.

But to fill the team with developing players (IMO) is ruining their development, Stecher and Hutton are prime examples. I thought both would have had higher ceilings, but both are atrocious defenders because they are too heavily relied on.
