Slow and steady kind, you know the Canucks have more top five picks in the past seven years than two of those clubs. Carolina has two 5th overall picks just like the Canucks.

The Jets have 4 top 10 picks of there's in there lineup and used Kane for other acquisitions.

You need top three picks, the Jets are a good team but it took them awhile to get where they are because they only have Laine in the top three. Still a good team but they draft much better than Benning.

There 8th rounders from 2003 help as wellšŸ˜
Also, does Anaheim have any of those elusive top 3 picks?

A few years ago Chevy said that the entire management team got together in Winnipeg and studied recent draft history to try and identify what traits a lot of the good picks had in common compared to the bad ones.

Not a surprise that they've drafted well.

Hurricanes for sure. You just get countless amount of picks.
That defense core

Faulk
Hannifin
Pesce
Slavin
Fleury

I have to agree. They have Bean who is a very solid prospect too. Build from the back end out. The canes are going to be good for along time coming.

Not an elite team but Scheifele and Laine are definitely their best guys.

It's just refreshing to hear about a GM not being so close-minded and actually looking at things like that to try and gain an edge. Winnipeg has drafted much better than Atlanta did.

Other teams with historically mediocre/bad drafting should look to do the same.

Yup. Quality scouting and development can help make the difference. Maybe cultivate a trade for an extra pick or prospect. Get lucky with some reclamations or free agents.

I know Vancouver is the worst drafting team in the NHL from 2000-2013

But during that time frame Vancouver also had the least amount of picks.
Chicago had the most

funny how that works

The fact they woulda been better off just drafting the highest PPG CHL player available with every pick instead is hilarious.

No laddy.

But take a look what JB is saying:

"We want to be competitive until we start getting some players back. But Iā€™m not trading any of our young players or giving away draft picks, because thatā€™s the future of the organization.ā€

So BB could be back after holidays. Maybe Dahlen goes to Comets too?

Thatā€™s circumcision, those picks ā€œcouldā€ have turned out in Vancouver, but it is also as likely that the development (I say this because itā€™s the new buzzword) of said player would have derailed in the Canuck system, it was that bad...

It would be way too confusing to have two Dahlins

Lol you picked up on that MauryB mix up. So Rasmus or RD to separate Dahlin from Jonathan Dahlen? Well nice problem to have.

In the meantime, Dahlen should be free of his contract soon. So where is the talk of him coming to undermanned Comets now? He probably find a call up in it before end of Canuck season.

Where is the announcement of JB signing Lind?

Doesn't he want him playing with Gadjo, Palmu, OJ, Dahlen and EP on Comets next season?

I'd add Gaudette to Comets. But he's likely more able to start off playing bottom six center for Canucks.

mathematically, finishing 17th is by far the best option

3% chance of moving up
0% chance of moving down

3 Ć· 0 = infinity

literally infinite value

-----------------------------------------

meanwhie 3rd-last:

20% chance of moving up
65% chance of moving down

more than 3 to 1 odds that you move down
