I have still yet to have seen him show any real hustle on a play or make any "wow" type of play. I've also haven't yet seen him beat a goalie straight up, every goal is a tip in/tap in. I really hope he's gone by the deadline. If someone wants to offer their late 1st rounder for him, I'd make the deal.

I did enjoy watching the game last night, as mentioned in my post in the previous blog, best, most complete game by Eichel...a real joy to watch his effort.
ROR played well as was mentioned in Michael’s blog. I also thought Bogo played well, had some purpose to his skating.

But, I do have to add when looking back over 30-odd games this season...

It’s all the fourt liners fault we suck, that and Johnson....you know guys who play like 10 minutes a game and get paid $600k.
As soon as Botts fixes the 4th line, then, and only then will they be good.

In all seriousness, how anyone can’t see that the entire line-up is vastly underperforming is beyond me. Up until 2 games ago, even Jack was producing at a rate of a 2nd line center. The only one who was producing at par for their position was Kane.

The argument of Top 6 versus Bottom 6 as being responsible is answered fully and completely by one word.

Last night was one of, if not the best effort the Sabres have put forward. Although Jack's goals were empty netters, he seemed to be making chances all night. the ROR line was strong all game. Even Johan created some chances and was sound in the neutral and defensive zones. The defense played well, I thought it may have been Scandella's best performance. He was very unlucky not to score on that one time blast that Elliott saved with his toes. I would like to see Antipin in the lineup more but if Gorges keeps playing like he did last night, his trade value may climb a bit.

I felt the same about Scandella as well, glad you called him out.

Lehner hasn't allowed more than 2 goals in regulation since 12/1.

But I forgot "he sucks". It had nothing to do with the fact that Tennyson and Falk were relied upon for big minutes, read: any more than 0 for Tennyson and 14 for Falk.

But I’ve noticed once again this year our coach is compensating for a bad defense and bad goaltending (to start the year) by taking minimal chances, and playing a boring style.

I'm getting to the point where I really don't care what the return is for Sam. Just open the spot up for Baptiste or anyone else.

It was nice to go to a game and not want to leave half way through. Had to complain to guest services though because the bathroom had no soap and only one paper towel dispenser actually had towels. He said "yeah, we let security know". Wtf?

I do think Bogosian being healthy has helped the defense, even if it’s slightly. But even him, you can’t rely on for any offense whatsoever, and Risto/Scandella are providing none.

agreed. he has been the biggest disappointment on defense this year. I also don't hate that GMJB took a chance on him, not every move is going to work. I suppose I would want him over Tennyson but it's a coin flip.
