I would love to hear the logic by Hak on this one..

Oh look we are playing TB who can really skate..lets sit two players with some speed for slower bigger players.

Sooner or later the results have to be there. Hakstol does some really puzzling things, that coupled with the roster not being good enough should have everyone questioning the coach and GM

Three stats from this game help to tell the story of what is wrong with this team.

1) Scott Laughton - 1 for 8 in face offs, including a clean face off win against in his own end leading to the game winning goal.
2) Shane Gostisbehere 4 missed shots, 2 shots on goal (return to 2016-17 form)
3) 6th in the league in SH goals against, and all but one with the first unit (that arguably has no defensemen on it).

You can't play a defensive style of hockey if your top pairing has no defensively minded D-men on it. You can't clear the puck from your own zone if you lose face offs there. You can't score if you are wildly throwing the puck in the general direction of the net.

I haven't been critical of Hakstol up til now, but his use of what little talent he has on defense is troubling. His use of what forward talent he has on the roster, and in Lehigh Valley is even more so. Time to terminate the Scott Laughton experiment. Send him and Lehtera to LV, and bring up any wing and Vecchione.

In all fairness, It is hard to make that comparison this year. Patrick was hurt and Nico is playing on a team that is clicking. Flyers sometimes seem like 18 guys came in off the street for a pickup game.
- DaveofYork

the Flyers would be a better team, and Patrick would be a better player for it, if they had sent him back to the WHL.

I'm going put on Clockwork Angels and crank it. That and the Macallan should do the trick.

Gotta say, this was a really bad loss for Team Canada. They had a two goal lead and should have been able to use the weather and conditions to shut Team USA down.

Yeah..I dunno about some of that..

Ghost is tied for second in the league in defensive points and tied for 3rd in the league in defensive goals. Really wouldnt call that wildly throwing the puck.

Also dont have any issues with Laughton as your 4th line center.

Elliott starts again. Manning, Lehtera in. Sanheim, Leier out.

Cool. It's not like Tampa isn't one of the fastest teams in the league or anything.

This is fine.

The coach does not decide who is on the Flyers roster and who is in Lehigh Valley. That's the GM's job. Provorov is very strong defensively in his own zone. Gostisbehere is one of the top scoring defenseman in the NHL.

To your first point, I would be amazed if Hak did not have a LOT of input in to who he wants called up or sent down. I guarantee if he said, I want player A instead of player B called up, Hexy would call up player A.
