There is more then just a few more of our draft picks to come up and our current ones to develop. There is something majorly wrong with this team and organization in general. I don't know what it is, but it's like groundhog day over and over for the last 10 years. The same problems over and over again. How do we continue to allow so many odd man rushes against every game? That is something coaching has to by now start getting fixed.
You just know that tomorrow Lehtera will be in the line up and as soon as Manning is healthy Sanheim is coming out. I think I would sit Hagg before Sanheim. Outside of a few games, I have not been overly impressed with Hagg at all.
The lack of ice time for Patrick because of a penalty is ridiculous. Just let the damn kid play. I'm tired of watching this crap. Hakstol seems desperate and will make any move other then a smart one.
After watching this game, I have 100% given up on playoff hoped for this year as far away as they were already. This team is not and should not be mentioned anymore in playoff talk. To many bad teams that are better then them to be mentioned. |

Patrick doesn't impress me in any way. Right now it seems Nico Hischier is far ahead of Patrick in skill level |

In all fairness, It is hard to make that comparison this year. Patrick was hurt and Nico is playing on a team that is clicking. Flyers sometimes seem like 18 guys came in off the street for a pickup game.

Slow starts, mental lapses and lack of urgency under:
Lavi
Berube
and Hakstol
Something needs to change. |

One of the worst games all year. As was mentioned the odd man rushes against and the quality chances the panthers got was way too much. 27 shots by them but the amount of great looks they had was insane |

That’s reasonable but Nico is a good part of why the Devils are clicking. He’s playing a lot of top line minutes and they’ve been productive. |

This team just has me so frustrated right now. I can live with kids making mistakes, rookies are going to occasionally take dumb penalties (Patrick) or just go through rough patches (Hagg), what I can't take is watching this team come out flat for games way too much.
This goes back 3 coaches now. I think it really says something about the on ice leadership of this squad. In years past, guys like Timonen, Briere and Pronger were there to not let things like this spiral out of control, and I think that type of veteran leadership is sorely lacking.
At least a guy like Raffl, who is no heavyweight fighter by any stretch of the imagination, goes out and drops the gloves to try to get things going. But so many veterans are coming up short. The team voted to put an "A" on Filppula's chest, but he's been pretty invisible for a guy who gets a lot of ice time. Weise was awful last night, but he is what he is. Gudas has been a huge disappointment this season and even Simmonds, who everybody loves, seems to disappear for long stretches of the game.
While Giroux and Voracek are certainly having good seasons, it sure doesn't seem to be trickling down to the rest of the team. The way they started last night's game was just pathetic and they should be embarrassed. Do they really think that they are good enough to just throw a switch and turn it on in the last 10 minutes of a game?
While this has been going on for a while, some of it, not all but certainly some, is on the coaches. The last 2 coaches were both guys in their first NHL head coaching jobs and most of the current assistants, with the exception of Knoblauch, have been around for a while. I think it's time to do what they did in 2002, clean house. Bring in an experienced NHL head coach with a winning resume and sign him to a 4 or 5 year deal. You can keep Knobs, but let the new coach choose the rest of the assistants. This will send a clear message to the players, that it's now 100% on them, and if the culture of this team doesn't change, players will be on the move.
I've had enough. |

So piss poor effort last night against a bad team. Odds they come out tonight and play good against a good team?
You know it's typical Philly.
And yes something does need to change as this team has had many coaches with the same lazy play... |

My guess is that they do play better tonight, but probably still lose a close game. Tampa is just a much better team and they've been almost unbeatable on home ice.

IF...and it's a big if... they do win or lose by 1 goal tonight and I am Hextall. I get the next time I can be with this team and I walk in and lock the door. Then I unload on the players. If he's in Tampa I do it post game before the press comes in. This team needs to be held accountable and if they can lose to Florida and then play with Tampa it speaks to the players work ethic. I make sure to tell the players Hakstol is here until the end of the season at least. They need to improve or some of them will be gone by trade deadline. |

IMO, you cant put it any better than that. Well said. You cant blame every coach, there seems to be a common problem with this team. Clean house of the veteran players, as there is enough youth to build. This is not a playoff team.

I’d look at the players and the leadership personally. But they simply aren’t good enough and despite what we think most teams aren’t going to continually bring an A game every night. The flyers have to bring their A game to win. Playoff teams win more when their a bit off. Flyers don’t have that luxury |

You are probably right, they will come out with a solid effort tonight. However I think that just shows how far off they are from being a playoff team. Zero consistency. as they have proven so many times they cant win the games they are " supposed" to.

Not bringing your "A" game when you are playing the 3rd game in 4 nights or the the 4th in 6 nights is perfectly understandable. Coming out like it's a preseason game when you've just had 4 days off, are playing another mediocre team and are in a dog fight for a playoff spot is wholly unacceptable.

Going back to December 22nd of last season, the Flyers have played 82 games.
They have a record of 33-36-13 good for 79 points.
Thats terrible. |

DING DING DING! Which is why right now the coaches probably have had their say and it isn't clicking with these vets. Time for the guy who holds the power to really light a fire to do it. Ask these punks hey how does a one way ticket to Buffalo, Arizona (well they might like that since they can golf year round), Detroit or Montreal sound? |

I’d agree. I’d just say that over the balance of hakstols coaching period the consistent effort is generally there. A hell of a lot more even in my opinion than a lava coached Pronger led flyers team.
They just have a very poor roster and that to me is the #1 issue.
Are we firing hak for being the bubble team we all expected them to be?

We really have a big gaping hole in our scoring dept. Without the top 3 scoring we stand no chance.
Simmer has had a god awful start to the year, despite actually being red hot over his first couple of weeks. Weal, who many thought was key to the middle six being successful has been pretty much a non factor night in and night out. |

If you want to keep Hak, fine. But if you are, then some of these veterans, and not just fringe guys like Lehtera and Weise, need to go.
Personally, I'm not really sold on Hak, but if you are going to move out some veterans, including some core players, and are bringing in more youth for next season then I'm fine with giving him one more season. |
