How? He's only 20 and has played just over 100 games.
We have to hold these young players accountable for their development. Wasn't that what I was told earlier? - jmatchett383

So you are saying that defensemen have more chances to get points because of the system the Flyers play? That seems reasonable. Other teams with more effective units don't give the defensman on their unit as many touches. - hockeyal
Umm, no that's not what I'm saying. Do you have any data to back this up? It's clear you'll make up and I emphasize make up any reason you can to minimize Gostisbehere as a player.

OK well at least you admit it. Because usually I get the impression you are smart enough to understand the differences. Maybe I was wrong.

Provorov is having a tough game yes. But is this a string of a few bad decisions in a season? |

Totally not the point. Don't make claims that a played whose stats shows his shortcomings is really great because he can hit an empty net. Simmons was the star on that goal. - hockeyal
They don't even get set up if not for the play that Gostisbehere made. You either aren't aware of that or are ignoring it to fit your narrative.

No, I get it. Provorov is our best defenseman dedpite his age. He is the exception to the rule.

Filppula can't make a simple 8 foot centering pass, springing a shorthanding 3-2 the other way.

Your analysis of his play on this team is seriously flawed. Ghost is the best person to have as the one D on PP1. Remember the reason they made the playoffs his rookie year? Oh yeah it was his replacing Streit and becoming a force on the PP and OT. Yes he's a liability at 5v5 but that's when you pair him with Provorov the best defensive guy. Even pairing him with Hagg who is solid isn't a bad pair. - dragonoffrost
You might be right. But I am not sure. I would like to see Provorov on the 1st unit. You could be right, but it could be the same or better. He has a knack for making nifty passes and has a really nice shot.
You can say that it was Ghost that propelled them to the playoffs, but remember he was not a liability that year playing 5v5 because of who he was partnered with. In fact, he started playing well when a certain defender was recalled from the Phantoms, as did the rest of the team.
Provorov is NOT the best defensive guy, he is the best two way guy, and he doesn't have the sort of "I will make sure to cover your butt above all else" instinct it takes to play with Ghost 5v5. IF you say Ghost is the best offensive D man, then Provy is at LEAST #2. So you wast your #2 offensive defender to cover for Ghost? Makes no sense. That leaves you with two stay home guys playing on the 2nd pair, and IDK what the third pair is. Looks like Mandog is the new Ghost? |

I'd rather have Sanheim.
And then Gudas.
And the AMac. |
