I'm not sure why ottawa would give up a possible top 1-5 pick for our garbage. This guy will be cost controlled, High end talent potential.
Nylander can't possibly have any value right now
2nd round pick - not the nfl
Bogo- combo of one of worst contract/player ability/ injury in nhl
Bailey- ahl minor league guy, closing in on 23 years old.
The sabres would jump at this offer - Boss34
Because Ottawa is in a bind to keep the best Dman in the NHL on their roster. Odds are they go full-on rebuild and move Karlsson, but if they choose to keep him they need to clear cap space and that means paying someone to make it happen. This trade wouldn't be Ottawa doing us a favor by giving us Dion and taking Bogo, it might like look that way on paper, but this move would actually be us doing them a favor so they can keep their franchise player even though we get the best player in the deal. |

It’s not hate it’s reality.
I told everyone before the season, when his shooting % goes back to normal, he will score 20-24 goals if he plays 70-75 games. Which is good. But with his awful passing and below average D, makes him a 2nd liner.
He started on fire, and is regresssing back to what he’s always been.
A decent player, nothing special - sbroads24
realistic expectations should be had
vanek produced much worse with mair than roy
rob ray produced much worse with hannan than lafontaine
kane produced much worse with larsson than eichel
stevie wonder can see why |

I would expect Kane's production to drop off a little playing with those guys, not the way it has though. It has fallen off the face of the earth. That is concerning to me, and I could see it being a concern to other teams. Really weird time to "Try that experiment" |

The reason hes buried on the third line and not producing is so that we can actually get a return for him.
I wouldn't be surprised if he was given the directive to take it easy until he gets moved.
Would you rather him have better production on Eichel's line, taking risks, and have a almost exponential chance of him getting hurt compared to the current situation?
Other GMs know what he is regardless of the last stretch.
Would not surprise me in the least if this move of putting Kane back with Eichel is to have him get a couple points as a "He still has it" thing. If he scores a goal tonight hes gone by the weekend. |

It would be great to have him, but I don't see us having another 12M to spend on one guy. Over the next few years, Mittlestadt, our 2018 1st, possibly Sam, Ullmark, Ghule, possibly Nylander, and others will all want to be paid. With Eichel and Karlsson eating 22M, where's that cap space going to come from?
Karlsson will also have diminishing returns. He's still great, but he's lost a step since his injury, 8 years at 12M per is a HUGE commitment that I don't know if we should embark on. |

Why would a rebuilding team give up an unprotected 1st round pick?
That pick could add an instant cost controlled player. Trading away that pick puts them in way worse shape.
As we know: rebuilding is a process.

What happened: to Kane's our best player, he should be in the allstar game?
Kane can not carry a line (hockey terms)
Even the kane fans have to admit he's been a huge let down the past 20 games.
Pittsburgh wanted kane, now they want larson or girgs. That's a drop off. Maybe it has to do with kane's recent play.

If they elected to keep Karlsson, they're not rebuilding. If they move him for a boatload of picks and prospects and keep their 1st this year, they are. |

So if kane plays well and scores, he will be more likely to be traded sooner?
What happened to "other gms know at he is regardless of the last stretch"
Playing better brings in a better return.
Teams want a hot player at the deadline.
Less teams will have an interest if he continues to suck balls. The supply and demand thing.

On your Number 5 post:
Going there with the wife 2/16, she got to pick this year. I tend to like Lampy's which is owned by the same guy and is a little more Mediterranean. Pretty solid.
I tend to like the Honey Horseradish Shrimp and of course, when I'm taken to dinner by a vendor, they always want to stop by the bar and check out the oil painting of the half naked woman. |
