You think if we get a real #1 to go with him on the top pairing he will then be better? By not playing 30 mins etc. - CoHo_to_B-Lo
no clue the lapses in his own end and blah passes here and there will not change
he is not a bad #3 d man
not sure if he will ever be a really really good top pair |

The Sabres need to have some value contracts.
Risto is probably appropriately paid, but it's not an incredible value yet. - thatsapickle
aside from entry level deals
mccabe IMO is the only value contract on this team |

I agree.
Not at all. I tend to think that contracts like Risto and ROR, and to a lesser degree, Okposo, should be based on the ability to replicate the production at an approximate pay level, as well as the ability to actually aquire those players, e.g., is it actually possible to acquire a player like that? I don't want to participate in another ROR flame war, so i'll just say that 5.5 for risto is pretty decent for the return. It's possible to quibble a mil or so the other way, but when looking at his production, it's not even close to a problematic contract on the level of Moulson, Pominville and Bogosian.
The bigger picture here is that there's plenty of cap space now (end of the year i mean) and in the future to add playmakers when considering that only 55, 90, 15 and 21 are locked into that time frame.
36 milllion in space in 18 months. There's plenty of high-end talent that can be added. Hopefully Mittelstadt will need a raise at some point, but we don't even know if he's gonna be good yet, let alone a 10 mil player |

Does anyone track icing stats? Risto has to be right up there with how often he just chucks it down the ice. |

I would have agreed 14 months ago
now IMO it's just another contract over 5 mil per that is not value
he is not a top 20 d man, nor will he ever be
he may show flashes here and there but even sekera did that - homiedclown
Was Brian Campbell a “top20” defenseman?
How about Chara?

We can, we have 29 right now. Will go up after TT, Glenn, and Hughes are gone in March. But would you rather draft a QB or get someone a little cheaper, and build around them, or spend it all on Cousins. I want him, just not sure if it would be the best route. Though, we kinda have to "WIN NOW" with Shady only having a year or two left. |

You're looking at a projected $27 mil per year for a QB with a rating this year similar to Josh McCown (imperfect stat, admittedly)

I'd say Cleveland, I think Denver goes after TT. Elway already tried to get him once. |

They have less money than us.. I think they draft a QB, give Lynch another shot and then get a guy like TT as a back-up plan. |
