Kovy would be a UFA I believe if he came back, last year was the last year devils had exlusive rights and I don't think he can return in season so a trade can't happen
Think the devils want to keep wood anyway, 22 and very fast, there was a rumor about wood being involved in a Hoffman trade but who knows - dmarsden2988
With the Randy wood ,buffalo connection, he would be a nice fit.
Miles has great speed.
Any chance Kovalchuk re signs with the devis next year? Or is the bridge burned? |

Having been at the game I can safely say that it all happened because Bjugstad was being a b.e.d the whole game and slew footed Eichel in the 1st period. Trochek had his stick going all night too. - RhinoFan
Why are you taking the Sabres side of anything on this board - that's not what is supposed to happen here. |

Boss (quotes not working) I don't think the bridge is burned but I don't see kovy coming back to the devils, I think he wants to go to a cup contender IF he comes back, and I don't think Shero would be interested in him, he is more for youth

I'll probably get laughed at for this, but we were the better team. Johnson was swiss cheese, we had the better pressure and quality of shots. That Sateri goalie isn't bad, he's a bit smaller but boy is he fast laterally. We had a couple that deflected off his arm or pad in that 3rd period that could have tied it up before the 4-2 score. |

trying to determine our best off-season options. JVR would be nice on Eichels left. Gives Casey another year to grow into the role |

The numbers show that too. Im just waiting on the off season.
Im not even expecting them to add, just draft well and subtract the poop out of this dead weight.

I dont know that he'd go from Toronto to Buffalo. Botts' interviews suggest he's not looking at major moves in FA either. |

Afraid that's what needs to happen. Josefson, Nolan, Larsson, Gorges, and Johnson need to go. Josefson was brutal and Kasdorf > Johnson. |

Sabres did a great job of moving further away from 29th place. Ottawa won, which is good too.
Starting johnson was a great tank move, same with having erod in the press box.
Also moving guys around , up and down the line up after winning 3 of the last 4 was good for a top 5 pick.
*Sabres actually outplayed florida, especially in the 2nd and 3rd. They missed a lot of open nets. |

I think they'll spend next year developing again (probably another top 10 pick) and then set themselves up to come out swinging after the inevitable lockout |

That's cool, what's your "outside" prospective on evander kane and his value?
Devils have any interest in these guys? Seams like the past relationship between our gms would make for an easy trade partner.

If the plan is to rebuild through the draft then we are 4-6 years away from a good product in Buffalo IMO. We may have made some of the worst draft moves of any team over the past 10 years and I don't think our scouting is much better now. |

Kovalchuk is a good way to replace a marginal guy with an actual nhl talent.

id say 2, they'll have amassed enough assets by the end of 2019 to be in a position to make some sizeable trades as well |

Couldn't agree more. Imagine Eichel with some real talent to play with. Scary thought |

That's assuming everything goes according to plan with the tank and we also select the right players in this coming draft. That is a lot of if's |

not really. They can take literally anyone in the top 5 or 6 and they'd be getting a guy with good upside.
Same with next year, and whatever guys from round 2-7 who exceed expectations on top of guys already in rochester/college (Mittelstadt, Smith, Guhle, Ullmark etc.)
It'll give them flexibility to make some good trades as well |

I like your faith but I still think we need to add NHL talent for next year just to make it watchable |

I think Kane is a good, not great player who would nicely compliment a team but not a go to player and seems streaky so have to hope he turns it on in the playoffs
Prob a first and a mid prospect
I don't see anyone on that list as someone the devils would go after, maybe pouliot but I doubt that since the devils have comparable pieces and the devil's don't have the pieces for ROR since zajac can't be moved with his contract

Casey, Guhle, Linus, Pu, Asplund, & Davidsson are coming. Perhaps, hopefully, Nylander and CJ Smith, too. (although we said the same things about Bailey, Baptiste, etc, etc)
This next draft pick should be a top talent, and hopefully JBotts can score a nice prospect or NHL-ready player for Kane.
We already have our number one center, a number two defenseman and a couple of 3-4-5 type d-men.
We need some damn wingers who can score. |

im sure they'll add short term buy low/sell high guys. But I think what will make them watchable is adding Ullmark, Guhle, maybe Mittelstadt and Smith.
Thats a pretty good turnover from the trash that's there right now. |
