I agree somewhat. I think McCabe is having an off year, and Scandella is much better than he's shown, but he absolutely needs to drop down to 2nd pairing.

b) isn't turrible

I think this gets blown a little out of proportion tbh. We only have 51m and change in contracts next year with them on the payroll. Thats around 25m in cap space to spend if we want to. I dont think it would be wise to spend that much anyways so theyre not hindering us in signing anyone at the moment. We could still go give tavares the max and be well under the cap (not gonna happen either)

Pick the best player available with our pick. Then take the 1st we'll more than likely acquire from trading Kane (should be in the 22-30 range), and package it with our 2nd (should be in the 32-35 range), then move up to the 12-17 range of the 1st round. We'll still get a quality Dman there.
