Given no credit? I said no such thing. There is without a doubt coaching that goes on behind the scenes.
Using your examples, what were the reasons they were removed from those roles? Konecny showed "poor puck management" Did time on the 4th line teach him to be better? He learned how to pass while being scratched? Or did a smart, young hockey player learn BY PLAYING what he can or can't do at the NHL level?
A coach has to try to win hockey games, so I completely understand younger players getting scratched at times or moved around the lineup. However, I like to see a reason behind it, and when guys like Manning and Lehtera are being used in place of younger players because they aren't "trusted" that is a problem. This coach takes that reason to extremes and there is a large amount of evidence that decisions are based on individual results rather than a process. Ghost only deserves a scratching when the pucks arent going in. Manning deserves to play because of an absurd on ice sv%
I won't just blindly support the decisions he makes just because he makes them. I want all of it to make sense. I don't think that is too much to ask for. - YuenglingJagr
I gave you my take on why Konecny lost his role and it's still something he's working on. Puck management is more than just passing. A recent hot stretch by him doesn't mean he still doesn't have a lot to learn about it.
If I remember correctly, Ghost was struggling in his own end. You reading into what statistics the coach is or isn't using to make his judgement calls is your own complex.

Do you think Ghost would've been scratched for struggling in his own end if pucks were going in the net (offensively)?

Was he scratched last night after not scoring a point in 4 straight games? Hakstol obviously wanted more from him in all zones when he was struggling last season. I really don't think he was judging ghost by goals and assists when deciding to scratch him. Ghost was lacking confidence and wasn't giving the coach enough reason to stay in the line up. Kind of like Sanheim hasn't given enough reason to stay in the NHL. Regardless how bad Manning has played the last 3 games.

it is true, as long as ghost was putting up points he would be in the line up. I do think it is a risk/reward approach, was Ghost involved more in getting goals or goals against. With TK, it might have been the later. Being the type of forward he is, he has to put up points. With a D like ghost, points are needed but it is easier to give him a little rope. If Sanheim would have had a few more goals, he would probably still be here. I do agree SanHeim was given nearly the chance to do it.

My theory as to why the Flyers didn't make a coaching change last offseason re: the PK was because they blamed its issues on the goalies (read: Mason), not tactics. Hextall's comments today kind of confirm that.
Well apparently that's the logic you think dumb Hakstol thinks with. So no problem, twist yourway out of this as usual. Continue to make every excuse for the young players that big bad wolf Hakstol is hindering.
