Is this a playoffs team with Radulov? I don't know. Long term it might be best anyway, like you said. - deadpoulet When Benn, Schlemko, Morrow and Alzner became the solution on D, this team was (frank)ed |

I am not sure Bergevin gets a free pass on things "out of his control" like Markov and Radulov going elsewhere. On the other hand, those decisions might not have been bad calls, long term. - Aetherial
Getting Dwight King and Steve Ott when you are going for a playoffs run is horrible. Both these guys were done. I don't know if it was a recommendation from a scout, or it was Bergevin himself, but those were useless moves. |

Who gives a (frank). This retarded conversation is pointless, debate the results after trades are made, when the market has been set (and paid for or not). Until then you are just in a giant circle jerk trying to either over evaluate prospects or devalue potential trade targets as a way to get off before the other guy does. - Mashadar
Why do you come to a blog discussing potential trades, on a website for rumors and discussion of potential trades, if people talking about potential trades bothers you so much? Do you go to pornographic sites and complain about all the naked people as well? Lol |

Brandon Smillie: Canadiens Must Achieve 3 Goals In Weeks Before Trade Deadline Day - Brandon Smillie
Seems to be a lot of potential top players that could move come deadline including the players. You named and then guys like JVR and Hoffman etc that you just dont know what's going to happen.
In all honesty Patches is as good as is out there in the trade discussion. The only knock against him is at this point in his career he has been terrible in the playoffs. I dont see them landing a 1st and 2nd and a top prospect and a top roster player in this deal. But I could certainly see them get what potentially would be a late 1st round pick, a decent up and coming prospect with some excellent potential and either a depth roster player with some lesser potential upside or a 3rd round pick. Of course the more players available should greatly effect the final trade values teams get. But you never know what a desperate team will do last minute.
As for Plekanec I agree with you on that one. In the heart of montreal fans they have a soft spot for him. I have the same thing with bozak or any long time leaf. At least you realise that your trading the current plekanec and not the 5 year ago version some other fans think. He's a solid 4th line centre and reliable in the defensive zone and can play the pk if needed. He is more of a 2 million dollar player today then he is a 5 million dollar player which he's currently earning. So no doubt if you want to get that 3rd round pick your going to have to eat some salary on the last year of the deal. I just posted this same thing on another blog actually.
And at least you didnt add Galchenyuk to the trade list. With the pedestal most habs fans have him on still there is no way Bergevin can get a trade value that fans would be happy with. It's a lose lose for him so I doubt he goes anywhere until he greatly improves and then they keep him or the fans come to a realization on his real value in the current market.
Great article though keep up the good work... |

Wasn't saying which one they should have kept. Was saying Markov was in the bag if MB wanted him, Radolov was going for the biggest payday he could get, so there is little you can control about that.
Wilde stated both were out of MB's control. I call horsepoop on that (like most of what he says) - Mashadar
Yeah Markov could have certainly been a help for this D. He has always been a solid d man. He doesnt have the legs he once had but plays the game well enough to make a difference still.
On Radulov he was hands down the heart and soul of the team and seemed to be involved in every significant play the team made when watching the highlight reel last season. Montreal could have maybe played the negotiations a little different but at the end of the day from what I understand Dallas and Montreal made him the same offer. He decided himself that he would rather play for Dallas then Montreal. Which as of right now seems like a smart decision.

We get it, your prospects are made of gold. If your Blues GM shares the opinion that your prospects are untouchable and that Pacioretty is garbage, then there is no trade to be had here. Me and probably all of the Habs fans here don't give a (frank) what people rate your prospects as. |

Nice straw man. No one said all Blues prospects are amazing. But the ones Habs fans keep bringing up are the type that are very seldom moved in the sort of deals being suggested, and pointing out it's not just Blues fans who regard them highly lends context. No one said Pacioretty is garbage. But he also isn't McDavid. Habs will get good value for Patches. A first round pick, b-tier prospect, and a roster player the team trading for him doesn't need. Probably an extra conditional pick too. |

When I said prospects I'm referring to the one's you keep repeating the same poop about. It's not a straw man, it's hyperbole. It's fine that you think your prospects are too valuable to trade for Patches. I don't know anything about them, but if they're half as good as you say they are, then I wouldn't trade them either. You have every right to say Habs fans are making unrealistic demands; my issue is that you've said that same (frank)ing thing in the last 5 posts you've made with nothing of substance added. If all Patches fetches is a late first, a meh prospect, and a plug then I consider that a loss. |

1) The ugly ones, yes.
2) Because people are being stupid and talking out of their ass. Talk about a completed trade, talk about a team need, anything else is just pointless hyperbole. |
