It’s only $126MM over 6 - must have taken a discount to pitch in CubsPark. - StLBravesFan
150 with incentives....all star...innings pitched...yada yada...
he gives up alot of home runs...don't want him pitching with the wind blowing out

I know he wants to, if he was willing to eat Huets contract in the minors so they could spend more money to help his team win.... - BetweenTheDots
Then perhaps he could have taken a bigger role in the last negotiations, which were right in the middle of the Hawks’ first cap crunch - and actually mandated a reduction in the cap over two years.
He coulda been working behind the scenes, I guess - but.... |

Professor did last year as well, nothing wrong with another quality starting pitcher on the staff, baseball is a marathon not a sprint

So you think he approves all the contracts the gm hands out. I do, I also believe he being Rocky is the one that paid Kane, Toews, Seabrook money. It wouldn't surprise me if Bowman said we could probably sign them for less and Rocky said they've earned it. |

Yeah - but total salaries are controlled, guaranteeing the Hawks a large profit.
I’m not saying he doesn’t care about the hockey and the winning - and I don’t know him at all (met him once) - but from what I’ve seen, he at least equally cares about the cash flow.
Maybe I’m wrong, but as (I think) the oldest families in the league, in one of the strongest markets, he could have had more influence on league activities, particularly as they affect the Blackhawks. |

After 24 games Hinostroza is performing at a 50 point over 80 game pace about the same as Debrincat and way ahead of Saad. He can play on my team anytime. - Savoy
Agreed. If we only had Panarin back with Kane. Gigantic loss and i like Saad but we should have found a way to keep Panarin. You dont see St louis trading Tarasenko |

We'll I believe everyone worries about cash flow, when you're paying out $70 to $80 million dollars you kind of have to be worried about it. It is a business, I also heard him say that they've had to pull money from other areas at times because there wasn't enough money in the designated area to cover the players checks? This was a few years ago in an interview.
Should of, would of could of though getting more involved with the league? Players got to have the nerve too make this happen, new cba. |

IMO, Q many times "takes what he is given" and makes a complete farce of it. John Scott, Mashinter, Bollig, Daley, Rundblad, Montador (RIP). The list is pretty long. Is it done to embarrass Blowman? To prove a point to the front office? An inside joke amongst the coaches? Who knows. Pretty obvious when guys either don't belong or DO belong but aren't given a chance to fit.
I'm not the biggest Murphy fan (still needs work on his skating IMO) but one thing you can't do is teach size (like with S Johns). So what's the deal? We all know Q isn't the guy for this (evident by what he did with Leddy) so he gets to bring in Ulf after his drinking buddy Kitch gets the hook. Ulf was one of the meanest/dirtiest players during his time (I hated the guy) and he still seems to have that pr!ck attitude evident whenever he is forced to put the headset on for TV.
Appears Ulf has done nothing with the D -- or is he not allowed to and it's just like the PP when Dineen is asked and replies "it's Q's after all." Well, we've seen how that's turned out now for how long?
I am wondering why Granato was brought on board -- unless, like when Q was hired as a "scout" but was waiting in the wings when Savard was given the hook, Granato takes over as a "teaching" coach?
Nevertheless, something is rotten in Denmark when a team with Toews, Kane, Saad, Keith and Seabrook cannot fare better than they have. Yes, Crawford is out but you'd think even going to an old NJ Devils style of hockey would afford this club much better results. Would not be surprised if some of the guys simply want out. - savvyone-1
I’ve had a feeling pretty much all season that this coaching staff have not been on the same page. Don’t know what’s behind it but something just not right there. |

What kind of trade do you see there? Easiest guys to move are AA and Hartman and maybe one of the young D, Kempny or Rutta who is now hurt. Who comes back? Galchenyyuk? I mean has skill and can score, but I dont see him as a Center. |

Same with Sopel..... Fans at the UC would scream about these guys, they look slower live, but cup winners have them on the roster. These guys stick their face in front of a puck to block a shot and move it up to a Kaner. - Mr Ricochet

Love when you add some old musicians to listen to but man nobody does Train Kept a Rollin like Aerosmith. ..... You knew these guys were boxers?

This looks like an Amish thing. Listened on NPR awhile back how many families get killed in these wagons as they are allowed to travel with no lights or safety belts for the kids. - Mr Ricochet
And a little know fact is that many of the younger drivers have begun texting on their small, hand-held chalkboards to share messages with passing buggy drivers and this has contributed significantly to the number of crashes in their community |

Very good point!
I believe that Rocky is the big fan and doing everything he can do to make the experience better for the fans for the fans’ sake.
And then I wake up.....and I realize that Rocky is just a smarter version of his daddy. Rocky is doing what Polaroid did with their cameras and the razor blade companies do with their shavers. Give the delivery mechanism away for almost nothing....the money is in the film or the razor blades.
I don’t buy any of the arguments that it is big, bad Bettina that has cost the Hawks a 4th or 5th cup with the dastardly salary cap. The fact is that Berryman is as much Rocky’s employee as McD, Stanley or Q. Bergman was hired and put in place by the owners to deflect blame and to protect the owners from themselves. And through it all, Rocky comes out smelling like a rose. |

Joni Tuulola – CHI
Unless you’re a Chicago Blackhawks fan or follow the goings-on of the Liiga very closely, you may not be very familiar with Tuulola https://dobberhockey.com/...ndinavian-super-sleepers/ - Mr Ricochet
Thanks for sharing that article. The part that stands out to me is when Tuulola is described as having some sandpaper. His offensive skills may be his calling card but we do need more grit and physicality on the blueline. If he can bring that element on a consistent basis, it could help him stand out amongst the bunch of blueline prospects who all are known solely for their puck carrying abilities.
Jhawk59 talks about Tuulola all the time so I'm sure he'll enjoy the read. |
