I was led to believe the return was 3 "premium" assets and thus a deserving "Stick Tap" to Botterill for patiently waiting till he got this moneyload return |

Just to put the barrage of Nash/Kane value to bed, look at this from a pure rental perspective.
Nash-Olympic Gold medal winner, Playoff experience, leadership qualities
Kane-History of external trouble, reported locker room cancer, zero playoff experience
We got, what has to be assumed to be, the best return available for Kane.
The Blues reported today they were trying to use the first they acquired for Stastny to "add a piece to bolster their offence, but the RIGHT player was not available" They did not want Kane for a first. So, Botts got er done, no one wants our junk, and we will get a top 3 pick in a very top heavy draft class. |

And, I hope Kane has a great playoffs and signs a contract with the Sharks so we get our first. Of not, so be it. |

Only when discussing Evander Kane is a different playing yelling at him at practice held against him as further proof of a character flaw
SJ made a solid trade, I'd have made it, but to say they have a young core is wrong. They have a ton of cap space, but aging core, and not many prospects. If they re-sign Kane, will go a long way to adding some life to the core. |

I hope they sign kane so we get that 1st, then push that 1st back to 2020 where that old core finally collapses. |

Is there a reason to watch this team the rest of the year?
I see no way this team isn't in the same position (Basement dweller) next year as well. |

We can watch Nelson develop some more. He will be a contributor to whichever team he chooses to join next year. |

If you came in here a week ago and said that Kane's off ice history would lower his return you would have been laughed out of here. On Sunday I said that people don't like Kane and GMs were hesitant to add him to their dressing rooms and a Buffalo fan told me I had no idea what I was talking about. That's why people think the trade is kind of funny. |

There was a massive split here between Buffalo fans of what Kane's values was.
I fell on the lower end and was unfortunately right. |

correct...in the context of what's transpired with him, and with the team as a whole, it did turn into a big thing |

There were quite a few Kane fanboys here.. still are. Good riddance. |

Regardless of his return and all of the arguments here on Kane, does anyone else find themselves hoping he really lights it up in San Jose? (and not just to better the chances of a first round pick) |

Sam's turned around his poopty start. So has Okposo.
We'll hear more about both of them in the OS, especially Sam.
Botts mentioned how most kids his age are in the AHL or similar and that he's still a young developing player and that it's important to develop him correctly. He's done very well lately and is much closer to the player we expected when we drafted him. Continue his strong play to the end of the year and get yourself a nice bridge deal around 4.
Feels the same about Nylander. The "just 19" comment was said, and he's seeing some nice things from Nylander. I expect good things from him next season in Rochester. Needs a healthy offseason and solid training camp. I don't care if he's ready for the NHL. I care that he's developing like an uber talented first round player should. |

Unfortunately, we brought on the wrong GM to handle the rebuild in GMTM.. He really (frank)ed us.
I'm definitely a supporter of GMJB.
And if Pegula did in fact make it apparent that Kane was not to be resigned, I'm behind him on that too. Pegula loves Buffalo, cares about it's people, it's image, and the Sabres image. Kane's constant BS was a thorn in his side.
We're better off without him. |

interesting note from baker yesterday...nylander lived with cal o'reilly his first year, the same cal o'reilly who as a miserable s.o.b. and couldn't wait to get out |
