1 season out of 7 playing 60 plus games... how much time do you give a guy who struggles to stay healthy... GM's make bad decisions like this on fringe players all the time.

Look at William Karlsson as an example. If you want to nitpick there are plenty of other Chiarelli transactions that you can crucify him over.

- Reveen.

In fairness, it's not like he HAD to sign him to 3 years. Pitlick was quoted saying he was surprised he got a 3 year offer because he was just worried about getting any one-way deal. Had Chiarelli offered him a one year, one-way deal, it's likely we'd still have Pitlick.

In MORE fairness, I was one who was okay with letting him go due to that injury history. Had I known then what I know now (that it wouldn't have taken a 3 year deal) then I would've likely adjusted my opinion, but I can't say that for certain.

Doing well with LVK as a 5/6 (I believe?) this season btw.

1) You didn't foresee Osterle becoming a top pairing d-man and I can see him falling back down to Earth next year.

2) William Karlsson projected and a good bottom six forward and I was also on that bandwagon but never in anyone's mind would it have been as a top line winger.

- Reveen.

I didn't foresee him as a top pairing Dman, but he isn't ACTUALLY that right now either just like Smid was never ACTUALLY a top pairing Dman. He'd still have represented great depth for us and freed us of the pressing need to resign Russell (even though I get why that signing happened).

As for Karlsson, I was bullish on him as a great bet to be an ~40 point 3C for any team that got him. He's shooting VERY lucky right now and when he regresses, that's likely where he'll fall.

True, but what I can't understand is why the Oilers do it ALL the (frank)ing time. Its like the organization as a whole is completely incapable of learning from past mistakes.

Well, difference of opportunity being what it is, I had no idea the Knights would mesh so well

On another note, I was also pushing for acquiring Reilly Smith as he was the perfect example of a buy-low candidate. Looking back on it, Florida probably would've taken just about anything as it would've meant they didn't have to expose Marchessault just to get out from Smith's contract. I can see why others would hesitate, but this was before the Eberle trade and Russell signing so cap space wouldn't have been an issue.

Probably. What hurts most though, is that despite losing both those players for nothing, the (frank)ing Panthers are still gonna make the playoffs.

I was on the fence about it him signing back with the Oilers... I'm more excited that we have Khaira working out nicely for us.

Was gonna say this, but I already knew you were going to pounce on this point.

Regardless, I say that he can currently be capable as a solid #4 if he has a complimentary partner. Glad you mentioned Smid as the same concept presents itself. He did well because he complimented Petry's game well. Same case with Oesterle and Keith IMO.

On this we totally agree. Big, mean, bearded and somewhat skilled. A very pleasant surprise all round.

This is the crux of the issue for me. If it wasn't happening literally all the time then it wouldn't be such an issue, but it's been going on for more than a decade now and I'm pretty sick of it. Despite the skills they may lack, role players have a lot of value and can be had without spending assets or overspending cap dollars in UFA if you just keep and develop the ones you have.

If management doesn't smarten up, watch them throw Khaira to the wayside a year from now after he has some regression in shooting percentage and "only" puts up 18 points in 82 games next year. I'll be furious if that happens.

Fine, but I want a signed Larsson jersey in return for my support.

Anything is better than Chia at this point.

No seriously, his ass should be fired at this point. You would do well as a replacement. But ditto on what Schwein said. I want a signed Larsson jersey too!

True.

Subban for Weber. Still can't get over that POS that is called a trade. It desecrates the meaning of a trade.

I edited that post btw. The opportunity you mentioned of a signed Larsson's jersey for supporting Bone's cause definitely enticed me to do so.

The Price deal is what shocks me most. 10.5 and a full NMC till he's 38. And all negotiated after these lingering health issues made themselves known.

There are very few things I wouldn't do to get my hands on a signed Larsson jersey, and those few things would make Jero blush.

No. You can be the new Joey Moss though once I fire his ass. He’s obviously a cancer.

I thought we were losing because Snow tricked us into thinking Strome was an elite top-6 winger?

Are you suggesting that he'd slip him the pink instead of giving him the pink slip?
