Oh I don't agree with the deal. Overpaid grossly for a hopeful.

Oh snap. Didn't know that.

Regardless, still a solid 5/6 option that can play a specialized role on the PP IMO and it would be wise to keep him in the lineup even after the return of Schmidt. Don't ya think that he deserves that much considering what he has shown so far into the season? A solid third pairing defender who can help QB a PP unit? Not trying to oversell him, but to me, a 7th defender is a person who can easily be replaced. Hunt's PP success and contributions contrast this aspect of a 7th defender.

His offense has never been in doubt. But he does have his liabilities in the defensive zone.

So besides McDavid being McDavid, and Draisaitl being a near point per game player this season, what are the positives?

Nurse
Khaira

Anyone else?

I’m no longer disappointed in Strome. Now that he’s settled in, he’s been playing pretty well. Happy with Nuge also.

I like Strome too... I have no idea why management said they expected more. What were they expecting? With the exception of that 2014-15 season, he's consistently putting up similar numbers.

McDavid, Draisaitl, Nuge, and Strome were all what we expected this year... Khaira, and Nurse were pluses. Where would you put Puljujarvi at this point?

He’s been a mix of good and bad, which I’m okay with. He’s a rookie learning a new language in a new league. Next year will be far more telling.

Are you following many of the upcoming draftees? Evan Bouchard vs
Noah Dobson... Who would you take?

Is he actually learning english or is this a metaphor for life skills?

Can’t go wrong with either I don’t think. The guys on prospect radio said Bouchard is the better skater, so I’d choose him if forced to pick.

Let’s go with “both”.

But yeah, his English is atrocious. Getting better though.

What prospect radio is this? From what I've understood and the little I've seen of Bouchard, Dobson seems to be the better skater and have better defensive abilities while Bouchard has superior offensive abilities (though Dobson's are nothing scoff at).

It was a prospect show on the NHL Serious XM channel. They said Bouchard was already an NHL level skater, but that Dobson needed a little work. They also said that Bouchard was the better of the two offensively, (as you mentioned) and that defensively they were close.

I’ve never seen either player skate myself.

Dahlin, Boqvist, Bouchard, Dobson... Would love to have either of those d-men... Especially Dahlin

Zadina or Tkachuk would be nice too... Svechnikov? No thanks. The Oilers and Russians don't mix.

Huh, might have to watch some more of Bouchard. I'll hold off on any definitive statement for now. Might be interpretative bias.

Not necessarily. If Bouchard's skating is actually above average or higher, then my main concern with him is mitigated. I still like Dobson as he's defensively sound and still produces great, but Bouchard has a dynamic element that's hard to ignore; plus he's filled out more into his frame than Dobson.

Shouldn't matter either way, as we'll be getting Dahlin
