Neither, he’s just having an off year. He seems to the type of goalie that builds off momentum of the last game, as evidenced by how poorly he played after a night off last year, and this year has sucked for everyone. I think he’ll bounce back but PC or hopefully somebody else should have a contingency plan if he looks the poops after 15games.

In all honesty though, we kinda need a franchise goalie, or at least a consistent top 10 goalie if we want to compete for a cup. We don’t have the hot poop prospect in the system and too many glaring holes in the line up to make it a priority either. (frank) I hate your ‘GM of the year finalist ‘ hero Chiarelli.

I can’t believe there are still Chia apologists and optimists. Unless he can do something amazing this off season like get Doughty for Yammer or something, he needs to be fired.

As for the goalies, it’s getting hard to find that gem of a goaltender anymore. A lot of the young goalies are good but not great. Murray and Gibson seem to be the exception but you need a good balance of good dmen and an above average goalie to keep the goals out.

The key to analyzing player performance is to understand and study the circumstance surrounding their struggles or success so you can inform future decisions around that knowledge. Talbot hasn’t been consistently sharp. The poopty play of the team compounds the matter. Talbot was better last year . Are you actually debating this?

You can’t blame him for being optimistic, maybe a little tinted in his lenses, and hoping that certain players play to the level they were toughted of becoming. I did it a lot over the last few years as the Wings began to become poop. Did it with Nosek, Eaves, Jurco, Pulkinnen, etc.. all ended up playing like crap for the most part until Larkin and Mantha and Anthanasiou came up. And Eaves did well outside the organization. But yeah, side tracked, Boner was just hoping for the best, but didn’t potentially prepare for the worst.
