So Jack is coaching? I wasn't aware he was making lines, thought that was Phil's job. Not saying he doesn't have say in it, but I doubt Jack is telling Housley who he's playing with.
And that is the point, I could see E-Rod and Jack playing well together...they certainly did at Boston. Why you assume those two wouldn't work together is beyond me.
Beyond that, even further down the rabbit hole, we were already playing a bottom 6 forward (Gus) with Jack as it was...Gus could have just as easily played 4th line center while the experiment was tested. Wouldn't have cost you a single thing this season we were dead last. - RhinoFan
Of course he's not coaching, but you know they discuss it.
Zemgus is a grinder, Pomminville is a solid two way player. Neither are top line guys, but it's easy to see how they compliment Jack's weaknesses. Jack needs guys who can do the dirty work and get him the puck. We don't have many of those.

With his $10m contract, Jack has been promoted to GM.
He had successful internship under GMTM, crowning the experience by getting Bylsma fired.
Phil, for obvious reasons, does what Jack tells him to do.
It is widely known that Jack hates ERod and wants nothing to do with his former coat-tail-rider. |

I like the idea of E-Rod with Jack. Other winger on that line would be if we get one of the big ones in the draft. - Hatboro_Swords
You wonder 3ER if the Sabres are waiting to re unite

Still odd that either coach wouldn't give it a look see |

That's a good point, but this was a complete lost season.
They shuffled everyone, but them together.
I do like erod ar 3rd line center - Boss34
It's not the only thing they don't do though. Bailey got a look with Eichel, Baptiste and ERod didn't. Larsson got a little time with Jack, Josefson didn't. It's not some kind of oversight.

I hate to fall back on the Sabres purposely losing, but why wouldn't baps, erod or ror get any regular time together?
Im not a fan of disco or phil.
I would like to give Phil another fresh start with the 10 new guys from the beginning of last season |

You are a jets fan right?
Who fits the jets best at qb?
Are we all in the same boat, everyone seams ro like baker mayfield?
I get the idea that the jets are really high on barkley, maybe not 3 (2nds) high, but they may upset the apple cart and surprise pick him |

I’m all for (frank)ing up the jets - gerbe75pts
If the Bills want to throw away alllllll the progress they'd made so far in the rebuild...then by all means trade up to #2. All those picks...all those chances to fill the holes on a team that is coming along nicely.
But please....PLEASE do the most "DA BILLZ" thing possible and trade away a mountain of picks to move up.
We'll have to settle for the "consolation prize" of Rosen...my heart weeps. |

Rosen fits best....but the scuttlebutt is that the Jets want Mayfield. And I want him too...we need a new face of our franchise and the kid is a gamer. He would bring an energy to the QB position that the Jets havn't had since Joe Namath left.
We won't pick Barkley, even though that would be pretty cool. It will be Mayfield. |

Phil wants to win
Phil plays the lines he thinks are the best
or
Stealth tank
Phil avoids playing lines he knows are better |

Eichel doesn't need grinders, and he can do a little dirty work behind the net. He's really good at avoiding big hits. He needs someone to convert his feeds and he needs speed on his wings to keep up. I still like Okposo on the right if he isn't moved, but on the left, he needs ramming speed. If Okposo is moved, Baptiste = 20 goals there. Even those who think that Baptiste is a 3rd liner would - I think - agree that the NHL trend is to play your best center with lower-tier fast guys. Baptiste is our man imo |

For the love of (frank)ing god this season was not a stealth tank
Not even close
We were truly, historically AWFUL.
Watch one minute of the playoffs this season and then sit there and tell me we're close and that they somehow convinced Terry Pegula a tank in disguise would be the best course of action this season.
It's flat out idiotic to think this season was an intentional tank.
There's like 4 or 5 powerhouses in the playoffs this season and the other 10 or 11 teams got dominated, almost flat out DOMINATED.
We would have gotten swept with a combined score of like 46-5 this year, honest to goodness people. We're so far off it's heart-breaking. |

Eichel absolutely needs a grinder-type with him. The more skill the better, of course. It's why you see Bailey tried with him, but not Baptiste. Ironically, I think RoR would be a good linemate for Jack. |

That's why I like Okposo there. He's a more skilled version of the Latvian locomotive. We need that fast LW on the other side tho. Maybe the draft |

I'm not really a big stats guy...but I had a hunch that Girgs was playing well with Eichel...sure enough:

I've liked Okposo with him, but I don't think it's the long term solution. I have a much harder time coming up with a reason they don't play them together more often. |

That says that Eichel played with Girgensons 45% of his time, and scored 21% of his points there.
Girgensons is horrible for Eichel |
