Thing is, you build from the net out if you can, or at least from the D out. You can find plenty of skilled forwards in the draft and develop them. It's next to impossible to find a goalie that is elite enough to steal games or a franchise defenseman unless you get really lucky. Those two are more valuable to a team then gold.

That doesn’t sink in over there. I always maintained D is a MUST. Eg sign Carlson & draft D if nothing else. Drafting BPA or a savvy trade is my tactic if a home run only.
