mdw and jimbo are both absolutely correct.
Initial point of contact is shoulder to shoulder. Did not leave his feet. Elbow is down. Stick ( including butt-end ) is not a factor. Aston- Reese saw him coming, this was not a blind side hit. Only part that may be disputable is hit was tad late. Watching video at full speed, I can see Wilson was late, but not to the point where discipline will be necessary.
All adds up to LEGAL HIT.
Any Penguin fan crying over this now knows the feelings of others where Crosby, Malkin, Cooke etc. have gotten away with far worse.
Is Wilson a player that crosses the line? Yes!
Does NHL have to change rules to protect players from future hits like this? Absolutely!
However, despite the injury, this is a hit within current rules. I actually wish this hit was on Crosby to illustrate that the rule does need to be changed. A hit like this on Crosby would certainly speed up the amendment process.

It's more so the fact that I don't care. Both teams act like and employ trash. So I want this series to live in the mud. Was both of Wilson's hits dirty, probably. But Crosby might or might not have spit at Kuznetsov. So this series needs to live in the gutter. I want nothing more from it.

This will be a suspension for his history and that's probably justified, but still thought last nights hit was the least egregious of the three questionable ones he's had this postseason
If you think that is a head shot, i'm guessing we will not agree no matter what.
I do remember all you guys defending this though...which wasn't even a hockey play

Dirty play. Agreed. Not sure who defended that, & there was lost teeth as well wasn't there?
Not sure why all you want to say the Pens fans defend dirty play when most will admit it was dirty. I'm sure I could hunt up some dirty play that you guys think is ok - Staal cross checking Sid comes to mind..........in the back of the neck???
Doesn't take away Wilsons actions though. It's pretty pointless if you were to ask me.
Seriously guys. Go watch Mark Messier's hit on Mike Modano. One of the most brutal sequences of events I have ever seen, ending with the ambulance personnel dropping Modano. The awareness of the consequences of head shots has definitely increased, which is a good thing. I just think there is a lot of grey area now on what's clean and what's not.
I am only talking about the Wilson hit last night, and that is how hockey coaches teach kids to hit -- feet on the ice, arms down, etc. I just don't see that one.
I just watched the Wennberg hit and that one was worse.

That's fair. Didn't know about the spitting & none of the trolls on the Pens thread have brought it up.

The video was just a little ribbing. Lighten up Aussie.
I think last nights hit was clean the Doumulin one should have been a game. And I haven't seen the Wennberg one jimbo is talking about.

Yeah that probably should have been a game or two. It was close to a hockey play, but he was about a second or two early, and blindsided him which I believe current rules say are punishable by fine or suspension.
If he spat it's way out of line. Not sure doing it in front of refs standing right there was a good idea. He should sit a game or 2 on suspicion. Agreed?
Any other things the Pens players have done while you defend Wilsons actions by accusing Pens fans of things? Just to clear it up as i want to go to bed.

Regarding player safety, why was Dumolin playing last night after a concussion in game 2? Was it the miracle doctors in Pittsburgh again, same ones that healed Lemieux’s fractured wrist in a week?
