I do to. Just don't think jumping from your kids 13 year old youth hockey team to the NHL puts him in a reasonable position to have any success whatsoever.

Elite players definitely makes the job easier. Coaching a poop team makes the job harder and almost assures that you will fall into the retread camp at some point.

I haven't even really even thought about Scott Gordon much, so have no real opinion yet. I do think the no retread thing is just stupid (no offense to anyone). Bill f'ing Belichick was a retread who failed miserably at his first job. Sports is littered with those type of coaches. Challenge is distinguishing the ones that can succeed with a second chance from the ones that just suck.

I was just gonna write that the Islanders have done 3 things well in the last decade. Draft Tavares, draft Barzal and beating the Rangers in Brooklyn. Anything else they've done has been awful. I want no part of that.
