This is the conundrum the league faces now though. Viewed through a microscope and if you go by a checklist of what a clean hit is, this hit will likely fit the bill as legal.

Imo though, this hit was completely unnecessary and absolutely predatory in nature. If the Pitt player was crossing the slot and about to unleash a shot I could understand the speed and determination of Wilson to use the body like that. Not so much on a chip up the board. Wilson is a big dude and could have executed a big hit and accomplished his goal without even coming close to crossing the line.

That's my exact problem with Wilson. I could buy it being part of the game if it were a guy coming across the middle carrying the puck and Wilson just got the drop on him and happened to make some head contact. But he's not even trying to separate anyone from the puck, he's just wildly plowing into people at full-speed. What he's doing has no purpose other than to injure people, he's not even attempting to make a hockey play on most of his hits.

OFFICIAL: #NYR have agreed to terms with free agent forward Michael Lindqvist.

Lindqvist, 23, skated in 33 games with Färjestad BK of the Swedish Hockey League this past season, registering 20 goals and 14 assists for 34 points.

I'm dumbfounded by that guy. Why would you not at least attempt to call the cops maybe. Or walk him back over to the table and tell the chick who he was right in front of him?

You know my view on that one as well. If my take on Wilson is inaccurate, I will admit it. But the build up of evidence and events is what likely will result in a suspension here. But I highly doubt it will serve as any kind of deterrent, since probably of the one game variety, if it happens at all

Jan, I have to say it is... ZAR (thanks for the acronym) sees Wilson coming at the last second and pushes the puck away so he can brace himself, therefore anyone talking about where the puck was and it being late is clinically insane. Wilson committed to the hit was lined up and ZAR had the puck only as he saw him did he make the split second decision to release the puck and go into bracing himself for a hit mode.

The hit was ABSOLUTELY not late.
