365 a frolunda fan said he shoots left but has always played on the right side
- gerbe75pts

Uffe Bodin told me he’s seen him play the left side the most, probably most comfortable there.

That’s where I disagree. Adding to players who don’t play a style the GM wants isn’t considered adding.

It’s putting sugar on a poop sandwich.

It’s not even just catering to a coach, it’s the way the GM wants it too

- sbroads24

Again you and I may not consider it adding, but the majority of the fan base will. I hope they move at least one of those three, it just wouldn’t surprise me if they chose not to.

My mind is really blurry this morning, who tied the game late in the third, in game 1 against the senators in 05/06 playoffs?
- washedup20

Yur mind is blurry poop for brains. From last blog, this is the game I was talking about.

Edit: gotta be 3ER level fandom to remember these type of things. Inferior fans think it was Max that got the shot through or can't comprehend the question. Nobody ever said it was easy being number one and like my uncle always told me, when you're on top, everyone wants a shot at the belt.

I think when he was younger they used him on the right side. Botts will probably want him on the left

He did play the right side in the SHL but I heard/read that it had more to do with the additional ice surface, which gave him more room to do his thing. When you see him in tournaments when the ice is NHL regulation size he plays on the left side. Most likely he will play on the left in the NHL but if they really need him to he can play on the right as well.

skunk after 3 years has already crushed the great tim connolly's goal production as a sabre

timmy never got 19 in any season

skunk averaged 22 a year for the last 3 years

not bad for a 20, 21 and a 22 year old

I will never get the hate for him on this site

ever

- homiedclown

I completely agree and have no clue why their is so much hate for Sam on this board. He has improved every year and this year it just took some time for him to find a way to play his game in the coaches system and he still hit career marks.

Works Juniors he was paired with Brannstrom (Vegas first rounder) who is also a left handed shot. Dahlin played the right side in that tournament played in our very own barn. I guess he’s versatile and can play both. We’ll see what happens when he is practing with us

From my stand point, sam finished well, looked like a great net front presence ect.

My personal issues are:
Party guy off the ice. Also pretty arrogant and jerky. 1st hand knowledge
Took the first half off completely this season. A slump is a few games or weeks, sam took off months
Inability to play his drafted position of center
Inability to play better with eichel hurt ( this year was better)
Zero toughness factor
Gets outworked and out muscled ( 2 things he can improve on)
Lack of emotion. I realize not everyone is excitable
Big part of the losing culture around here
Slow

Hockey is a physical sport and he needs to be sheltered.

I disagree

He scores most of his goals in front of the net in the dirty areas. His willingness to go there shows me he has toughness.

Just like Vanek people thought he was soft but he took a beating in front of the net. Sam is no different.

Why, though? He gave us the Ville Leino special for 47 games. Zero goals.
- jcragcrumple

Do you even read what you write? He's a defenseman and learning a new system in a new league and a new language. Heaven forbid somebody be given a little time to find themselves.
Reinhart was one of the best players on the team the last third of the year. He certainly improved his defensive game, He was working hard in his own zone and through the neutral zone as well. He understands the concept of going to the "dirty areas" because that's where he scores most of his goals. People always watch other teams and say "I wish we had a guy like that" and when we get one, They want to trade them for the next new toy.

That's a good point, he does go to the front of the net. But, he needs protection and gets hammered frequently.

He lacks physical presence on the ice. He scares no one. He doesn't even defend himself or get angry?

Not a "playoff type guy".

Apparently you agree with most of the rest of my gripes

it's a hard cap sport, salary is always in play. it's literally the name of the game. which team can build the best 75 million dollar roster.
- Sabresfan-365

Which was kind of GMJB's specialty in Pittsburgh, So I think we should all just take a step back and see what he can do.

I don't really care if he doesn't scare anyone. I want him to produce.

Not a playoff type guy is an unknown. I'd like to see him in the playoffs in the NHL, however in the WHL playoffs he carried a garbage team much much further than they should have.

No, the sports in Buffalo are the problem.

Become good and all this stuff takes care of itself

- sbroads24

I don't believe that for one second, The media in this town is vindictive and angry. I don't expect my reporters to be fans of the teams or fawn over them. I don't expect to have to constantly read all the bad that has happened in the past on a constant basis. Sullivan's hatred for Housley is borderline obsessive. He has brought up failing to block a shot in a playoff game over 30 years ago. Even when the teams do something good or exciting, We get the article about, just wait something will go wrong and it will blow up in their face.
Maybe Russ Brandon deserved to get fired and maybe at this time Kim Pegula is the best option to take over, But according to our crack reporters it is a disaster just waiting to happen, I don't know. I sit because there is no way a Woman could possibly do the job normally done by a Man?

It goes deeper than that. It's not just bad contracts or dead weight, they have very few good value contracts.

I mean aside from Dahlin on an ELC, who are the best value deals on this team, E-Rod and maybe McCabe? The rest are either paid market value, slightly above, way above or dead weight.

It's way too much and reduces your margin of error when trying to build a cup winner.

- Sabresfan-365

Sam was good value so far?

There isn't a gay man alive that would go around licking the face off a sweaty hockey player

Marchand is just gross

You clearly have no gay friends...

But you have a point

There's nothing worse than the smell of used hockey gear...

I can't even imagine what the women's gear smells like, and I mean that in the nicest way possible... Because men's gear is one of the worst smells ever, trust me.

I agree with you on Reinhart. I like the player.

I'm not sure why everyone is rushing to defend Antipin. He was mediocre and certainly didn't bring anything new to the table. 0 goals. That's just not good enough. I wish him the best, it just didn't work out

Have you been watching the intensity of the playoffs?

Do you think his game translates?

After getting rid of foligno, d low and carrier seams like the Sabres are really low on team toughness.

They are easy to play against ( sam included)
11 home wins backs my theory.
Almost by design.

The team as a whole is soft and gutless.
Watch who jbotts brings in and the draft (trades) and free agency. He will address this problem.

Scoring is part of hockey, so is team toughness

Prime example of how our expectations as Sabres fans, and reality differ.

Evander Kane isn’t even top 50 in playoff scoring. Is 6th on his own team in playoff points.

People pretended our GM gave away an All-Star for nothing.

These “core” players we have just aren’t comparable to other teams core players
