I wonder how concerned the Avalanche were with that deal after last season, when he had basically Sam Reinhart point totals 2 years in a row?

Based on what you said in your first paragraph, the clock is ticking on the Jets big time, as it's either this year or next based on Laine and Wheeler.

it is but this is the reality. you usually get a window like this, sometimes you can get another one quickly if you're crafty, like the hawks, kings and lightning.

He won't be playing with Laine again next year?
- kingcong39

68 assists are a lot man

I just don't see that happening again.

I still see 70 points out of him though

Their jobs - as if ror, sam and jack are equals.

Jack plays a way tougher/heavy game than either of those softies. Hits are only part of playing tough or being difficult to play against.

We need someone to help protect jack not have jack protect sam.

As for speed sam and ror are average . I would give ror the advantage from seeing them play live. Just my eye and opinion

Oh come off it with this

Pittsburgh traded for Reaves to protect Crosby...then sent him packing

That would mean the Sabres will need to be crafty unless they can win the cup during the ELC deals of Dahlin and Mittelstadt, yes?

That he is, but Wheeler got a 20 assist jump this season that's really high.

Crosby can take care of himself.

I want to tough hard nosed difficult team to play against.

They also traded for Reaves right? To add toughness

They traded for Reaves in the off season and he didn't last a whole season, I wonder why that is...oh wait it's cause he isn't a good hockey player.

Agreed.

I'm only saying that to those who are preaching the burn it down approach, it likely means that value window will have to be tied to the wave of talent they have after Dahlin and Mittelstadt, unless they're going to somehow get a Briere back on a cheap deal who produces far beyond it.

They are going to have to make genius deals, make amazing picks in some rounds, or both, and that's counting Dahlin, Eichel, and Mittelstadt being everything we all hope they are, and maybe more.

It sure as hell isn't easy.

To me there is a difference between burning it down to the ground and making smart hockey trades.

I like ROR, I do not like his salary. If he was making $6 million I wouldn't be ready to send him packing.

Bogosian won't be moved, I highly doubt Okposo would be either.

No doubt Reaves is not a good hockey player, my point was they were the 2 time Stanley cup champs and they added toughness. To a team of already playoff tough guys. Including sid.

You think the Sabres need toughness or no?

Pretty sure that was Tim Connolly, not Roy
- jdfitz77

Roy tied the game at 18:23. Smolinski scored 20 something seconds later and Connolly tied it at 19:47. He never said who was the last person to tie it late.

I get that, but using hits to say a guy is soft is ridiculous. Hits are THE most subjective stat in the NHL. BED has a thing about takeaways and giveaways, this is that times 100.

They made a terrible trade and sent him packing before the season ended.

They recognized the mistake they made and got rid of him.

This team needs talent before they go looking to add toughness.

Why wouldn’t u assume it to be the last person?

He didn’t ask who tied it before they took the lead & then we tied it again

U can’t just decide to put someone on LTIR
They actually have to be hurt

Play Okposo with Jack this year
Hopefully he stays healthy
If he does, his stats will surely rebound
Then we can possibly trade him

- jdfitz77

you do know at least a dozen players are on LTIR due to cap issues, right?

sign here, wink wink

we will pay you wink wink

Not guys who are medically cleared to play
Otherwise it would be Cap circumvention
The NHL would step in

Okposo wants to play and said himself he plans to train hard this summer to return to form. If thats the case, I don't have a problem with him.
I cant imagine there is a player in the NHL that would "wink-wink/nudge-nudge" getting paid not to play when they think they're fine.
