Thanks, but no thanks.

True, Holland in all his incompetence, has screwed us with the current cap situation, and overpaying useless players and handing out NTC's like candy to his favorites (and should have already been fired);however, the Wings need to build around Larkin, AA, & Mantha from an offensive standpoint.

In the meantime, do what should have been done 6 years ago, and rebuild the defense, as opposed to letting one of the top 3 defensemen of all time retire, without having a backup plan in place to help the rebuild of that position.

TBH, I don't really see AA staying in Detroit this offseason. After holding out last year, it's clear he's willing to do what ever he can to maximize his contract. Rumor is Holland wants to go after some BIG names in free agency, and after signing Mantha and Larkin, won't really have the cap space to give AA the type of contract he will demand (and deserves). a mid 1st round pick is about as good as they'll get for him.

Just imagine, though, what if they could take 5 of the first 36 overall picks and call Buffalo. Would they listen? Probably not, but fun to think about. I want another stud Swedish defenseman for 20 years.

AA for a first - this year? In a heartbeat ... but no chance FLA ponies up for that.

Overpayment from FLA but I will take it. Maybe add a 2nd or 3rd from DET.

lol...there is no way Detroit is getting a first round pick for AA. A career high 33pts, let me guess, he's going to sign for 6+ mill per year too. He's going to be a 30-40 point/year guy over his career. A 2nd round pick tops is what they get for him.

23 years old and scores like crazy 5on5. Under-utilized in Detroit and Blashill not a great coach. If Tatar gets a first, second and a third...a first for Antanasiou isn't a stretch.

After seeing the success of Riley Smith, Jon Marchessault, and the coach Gerard Gallant with Las Vegas - I have no doubt that the Panthers will remain out of the playoffs for some time to come.

Every time they get close to success, it falls apart, just like the NY Jets.

Tatar is a much better player though.

1,2,3 for Tatar was and still is ridiculous. Can't compare other deals to that. AA not worth 15OA. I'd be all over that if I were the DET GM.

Perhaps he WAS at one point, but not anymore. He's likely peaked and will slowly drop-off whereas AA probably has a couple more years to grow. Also, even if he is a better player, that's why he got a first, second and third and AA only gets a first.

Tatar surely has peaked according to standard aging curves. However he was and always has been a much better all around player than AA.

I think 2 2nds is more in line for fair value of AA.
