Gabriel Fortier is a smaller forward who plays bigger than his size. He works for every puck that he can get his hands on. He battles in the corners and to get to the front, trying everything he can do to make this happens. Fortier is very quick on his feet, using his edges to adjust his lanes and trajectory quickly. He has good acceleration and top speed that allows him to seperate himself from other players.

Very good on the forecheck and backcheck.

67th in Canucksarmy's ranking. 3rd round pick for Van

I know you think we need D. Van does need D.

Is there really any point of them taking a D past the 3rd round?

Most of those are Gillis picks who didn't even know how to pick in the first round

There goes one of my Calder faves. He's a little like Pettersson and needs to grow, don't think he'll stay in finland for the full 2 years.

I think Svech or Yamomoto takes it with him out

I'm so sick of Van not using 1st and 2nd round picks on d-men. Watching other teams build from the back end out (cause it takes longer to develop) is so sad. I'm all for BPA at 7, whether it's Wahlstrom or one of the D. But they better use at least one they're first two picks on a dman. It's getting bad. I think Birsbois will be fine, but let's draft some higher quality talent for the back end already.

I'll take "Canucks reasons to take d in the first 2 rounds" for 500 Alex.

63 D played 20 games or more that were picked 90th or later.

177 D played 20 games or more that were picked 89th and higher.

You can get 1 pick out of the last 3 rounds.

Yup. Picking a RHD at the top of this draft, could go a long way of fixing D. If they don't then picking a D in the 2nd and 3rd is A must. (frank) BPA.

Double Jeopary. Last D picked in the first two rounds before OJ. No googling.

Righty would be nice, but the fixation is silly. Neither side is good, we have 2 NHL talent dmen currently. BDA I would go 2/3 of the first 3 rounds for the next few years, but then that would be so much easier if he actually traded for picks.

Good god. I bet Luc Bourdon is one (RIP). Tree is a third, Brisbois a 3rd...
I honestly don't know the other Ohlund?

It amazes me, we all seem to know how important the position is yet settle for late picks and undrafted UFA's year after year. Blows my mind.

Edit: Sauve and Ellington were the correct answer, brutal.

I have no problem with 5'10" 190 who goes to the corners. Could be the next Marchand type with being Marchand.
