Kotkaniemi eh? Haven’t followed him at all. Anyone have an opinion on how far away he is from being NHL ready? |

He projected top six, has a great wrist shot, very refined 200 foot game for his age at 17.
Downsides are his speed, lateral movement strength, and his tendency to work as an individual and not as a team player too often.
I would see if you could trade back from the 10th (plus a couple other picks) for the 11th and 12th and see if you can get him and maybe Dobson, Smith or Wilde |

In regards to Kotkaniemi opinions vary but I see him as a season away from the NHL(I’d like to see his skating either gain more laterally or add more explosiveness on the first couple strides), but he could probably play day 1 as is, think it just becomes a matter of who drafts him. Unlike the other person that said to trade down to 12 or so to draft him I disagree a bit. He’s likely going to be the first pure center(Wahlstrom and Tkachuk project as wingers) taken off the board. That said skating may scare some teams off, which is why his rankings are all over the place I’ve seen anywhere from 3 to 19. |

@Schwein
I don't actually know much about him. I only saw him in his U-18s which seems to have been his best. He's a goofy-looking Finn that plays a strong possession game and has great one-on-one skills. Stylistically, he kinda reminded me of Draisaitl (skating included) but I've also seen O'Reilly as a comparison. |

I like this option better. The more I read about Kotkaniemi, the more he sounds like the second coming of Ryan Strome. |

Things are likely going to get crazy after pick #2. Depending on how teams have rated guys we could see a larger number of picks traded down. |

As long as Holland picks Bouchard, Hughes, or Boqvist with the #6, I’m happy. |

Tracking young players in the European men's leagues is tough even for scouts. The overall point production is significantly lower because the young players don't get as much ice time. In many ways they are more suited for the NHL than players coming out of the W.
Biggest X factors are always transitional to north America both game wise as well as personal |

More like Dylan Strome’s potential. He could be Valteri Filpulla if he ever was developed right ((frank) you Babcock) |

Love hopping those. Great finds some times. Absolutely sucks ass when they don’t have anything. In Tennessee, these god freaks don’t believe in garage sales on sundays. Sucks. |

That’s still somewhat meh. I’m thinking I’d rather they moved it. Maybe it could be packaged with our 2nd to the Rangers for pick 26 or 28 and the rights to Namestnikov? |

Well obviously teams would trade up too. Just saying if some teams have guys rated higher or lower because of how varied the draft lists look we could see teams trading 1st and say third round picks to move up or whatever |

Is it possible the Oil are thinking about anything other than one of the big defencemen. How obvious does it have to be |

While most fans like to poke fun at teams like Carolina, Arizona, and Florida as teams that should move to "real NHL markets" there isn't a organization in more disrepair than the Ottawa Senators...
Spot on, Ek. I'll probably get dismissed as a hating Leafs fan, but the truth is Melnyk is probably one of the worst owners in the game since Ballard. Sens fans really deserve better. |

They still need a winger for Draisaitl I think. |
