Others I would've taken with #20, but Kupari has potential to be good. 2nd and 3rd rounders were home runs though. Jealous |

Agreed. I was surprised Thomas was still available at 51. |

Kupari was who I originally wanted at #20, but when Veleno was there I couldn't decide between the two. At least in my head, I will always have to measure Kupari vs. Veleno. Thomas was a good value pick, but with Addison on the board I would've went with him. Odd to not pick a defenseman at all. I hope Shafigullin comes over some day, so far our last 2 Russian 3rd rounders haven't |

Kings killed it this year. They got good to exceptional value at every pick from the #2 on, and got their guy they were targeting at #1, value on target for the pick number. While it's a long-shot, every player here actually has a chance to become a good pro and a decent prospect. Not often you can say that with all 7 choices. |

$11M is actually quite reasonable. A lot of (non-connected) people had his AAV in the $12-12.5M range. |

Not worried if sharks get JT; Kings could trade for panarin 😱. Be competitive for at least 2-3 years.
Trade
Toffoli muzzin Brodzinski
For
Panarin + 3rd
Panarin 9 - Kopitar 10 - Brown 5.875
Pearson 3.75 - carter 5.273 - Kovi 6.25
Iafallo (2?) - Kempe (2?) - Vilardi 925K
Clifford 1.6 - JAD 745K - Lewis 2
Doughty 11 - Forbort 2.525
Marty 4 - Brickley (1.1?)
LaDue (900K?) - clague 762K
82 cap hit for 19-20 season
Almost 2.1 left for 20 roster players.
Yes I guessed at contracts could be lower or higher but it can be done especially if you trade Clifford and or Lewis.
I think Clifford should be traded for 2nd or 3rd eventually |

SJ, LA, Dallas, Florida, Tampa, NYI, NYR, PHI, BOS and NJD...no particular order, but teams that make sense as a Panarin trade option. - Dreger |

You forgot Phaneuf. That's a pretty big chunk of change to leave out.
The roster you suggest at the cap hits you suggest put the Kings at a $84.6M cap hit for 2019-20. I think Kempe will get more than $2M on his bridge contract, especially if he has a good season this year.
If you want this to work, you have to figure a way to dump an additional ~$4M in salary. That means Carter or Pearson + Martinez would have to go and get replaced with ELCs. Buying out Phaneuf's contract won't help because of recapture penalties. |

Nope. Bought him out. How are there recapture penalties? 35+, does that pertain to LA since they didn’t sign the contract? Well either way not worried. I’m sure they’ll get their guy via trade |

Recapture penalties apply if the Kings choose to buy it out since his contract is front loaded. Since Ottawa retained 25% of his salary, they'd be on the hook for 25% of the buyout cost and recapture penalties, but the Kings would have to absorb the rest.
If they bought him out next summer, the cap hit to the Kings would look like this:
2019-20: $2.19M
2020-21: $4.06M
2021-22: $1.07M
2022-23: $1.07M |
