The Flyers would have to give more, which is more about how good Panarin is as opposed to saying Simmonds is bad/washed up/etc.
- jmatchett383

So what about something like Voracek for Panarin. Maybe you still have to add something but should be a lot less then something with Simmonds.

Voracek is 2 years older but also closer to talent level.

You want to trade Voracek for a one year rental?

I think that there were 2 reasons he didn't want to come to the Flyers. The biggest reason is that he was pretty set on playing for Toronto, he just wanted to explore some other options to make sure. Secondly, none of the teams on his list were in the Metro division, which may have been done out of politeness to the Islanders.
- jmatchett383

Odd, because I heard him saying on Fan590 up in Buffalo that it was always his dream to play for the Flyers.

Adidas should've waited to reveal the third jersey until after it was finished.

They are very meh. It was as if they had only 5 minutes to come up with something, and they are the result.

The time to propose this trade was a day or two ago when Voracek was deemed overrated. You missed your chance

Man those jerseys look like a lazy job when comparing them to the Ducks newly revealed Jersey. 😞
- arichardson22

I mean they're just the recycled SS jersey. Same thing they did with the 2012 WC jersey. It's the definition of lazy.

Hopefully this year's SS jersey is better. I still would like a black version of our base set. Worked well with the first black jersey we had.

Based on Hextalls comments himself on “wanting in there” as far as being players for the big ufa piece which everyone understood to be Tavares

Usually I don’t quote children movies but it applies too nicely here (Matilda):

I'm right and you're wrong, I'm big and you're small, and there's nothing you can do about it.

Agreed. I love that they brought black back, but could have executed it better. Oh well.

With the Flyers being realistically 2 years out from truly competing, a deal for Panarin makes no sense IMHO, especially if he would not commit to a contract. Think of it this way, if you project 1-2 years out, the depth chart at LW is

Giroux Couturier Konecny
JVR Patrick Voracek
Farabee Frost Simmonds*
Ratliffe O'Brien O'Brien
Lindblom Rubstov NAK
Rubstov Vorobyov Laberge
Cates
Strome

This is simply loosely ordered based on upside, and doesn't have every prospect just those with Top 9 potential. In terms of forwards, I'd argue they are loaded at LW prospects that could potentially make the team as early 19/20. Center is not quite as deep, but Frost should also be on the roster 2 seasons from now, and if not, Vorobyov is a safe bet. They are most exposed at the RW position, especially if they don't resign Simmonds.

I'm actually far more concerned with the defense. I have a lot of concerns over Myers health and Morin's upside (and health too). There is a good possibility that neither make it, leaving Provorov, Ghost, Sanheim, and Hagg as your defense core should that happen. Ginning is possible, but more likely 3 years away. It might have been better drafting a D prospect instead of O'Brien, but time will tell.

I would personally rather see them trade for a high-end Defenseman if they do anything. If not, they should probably load up on D this draft.

The new 3rds are the same as the Stadium Series jerseys right?

If they are exactly the same with numbers & letters, I don't care if it was a lazy reuse, they are sweet looking.

To be honest, it doesn't take much to improve this one. Add an orange neckline, shrink the sleeve numbers to normal size, and make the back numbers orange. Maybe make the names white too.

No.

Any deal for Parnarin would need to include an extension.

Agreed. Right now, Provorov is the only Dman on the roster that I'm comfortable with facing top pp units and protecting the lead in the last minute of a game. There is no guarantee that any of the current young D or prospects in the system will be able to fill that role. If they can land a legit all situations top pair Dman I'm all for it.

If not the same, then very very similar. They’re cool, but they could be better that’s all. As someone just said, some slight additional touches would have been nice. I just expected with the switch to adidas that they would have slightly altered it. It’s all gravy tho. Already have my NoPa adidas orange jersey 😉

I personally believe O'Brien will closely follow the path of Mark Jankowski of Calgary, probably more 3-5 years away then 1-2. Expect him to be called a bust because Flyer fans won't see him for a while.

Ok, now it makes sense. Don't see it happening though. I think Panarin is looking forward to being a UFA and I wouldn't want to have to massively overpay him to extend with us. I'd rather have Jake at 8.25 per than Panarin at 10.5 or so which is what it would likely take to get him to sign an extension.

But won't they also have another new jersey for the outdoor game this year? So probably the reason they still are suing the stadium series jersey as they already had to work on another jersey.

Just a thought.

Re Panarin trade:

I think we should trade the whole current roster for him. No, seriously, hear me out. If we just ice that guy we will surely get the first pick for many years and will be be stacked with elite talent. Panarin can still be entertaining on his own. Fans will love it and we will have a broad street parade in like 10years. Monkey lock that this team will rise up.

My favorite orange one is the Winter Classic version, I have Giroux in that, but I need to replace the A with a C now.

I will probably go for a Provorov Black Adidas now.
