Funny how both Burke & AV went on to other hockey jobs while MG didnā€™t. Trev will not get another shot. Its FA & only FA who should get out of the way. If he couldnā€™t see what was coming down the pike aka all the empty seats & lost revenue he is too stupid to be dumb. Yes sure he spends & wants to win a cup that's not a new concept. Get the next Prez hire right or sell. He is a non transparent turd.

That article makes it seem like Linden was doing everything while Benning was off having a wank.

It also completely ignores the whole Boston model, get back into the playoffs, fill the age gap philosophy of this management groupā€™s first few years. Linden couldnā€™t even utter the word ā€œrebuildā€ until last off season.

Maybe ownership simply got tired of Linden changing the goalposts all the time to mirror which ever teams had been successful the season before. I know we were all sick of it.

- CubanBuffet

They tried to remain competitive and do something completely different from what we have seen in years... draft and develop.

Even if they weren't successful being competitive, I'm glad they have had some success drafting.

I'm not sure what really happens behind the scenes. Linden didn't look happy, so it is good for him that he is gone.

hoping we continue to draft and develop.

as for the article giving Linden so much credit, that is nuts. a love affair between the media and Linden.

I think we all should have see the writing on the wall when the whole Aquilini, Gaglardi, Beedie fallout happened.

Nothing goes smoothly in Canuck land.

Thankfully they had that nice Cup run to quench everyone's thirst and set the fans at ease

Even bad owners can win, bad owner and bad GM, I'm not so sure though? Benning has a two year contract in his hands, we'll see if he makes it beyond that.

Iā€™m not sure that thereā€™s a human being on the planet that we would be happy with as owner of the Canucks.

Iā€™m not defending Aquallini, he needs to let the people he hires do their jobs, but itā€™s not as though the management that heā€™s let go over the years have shrouded themselves with glory elsewhere.

He doesnā€™t have a firing problem, he has a hiring problem.

Sounds like an excuse for Chia.

Hall seemed pissed after that trade, not a guy who was relieved or happy like Kesler/Luongo were.

- Nucker101

Like all GM's Chia will make mistakes. Such is life.

But there was a lot of tension around keeping Hall as the decision to make McDavid captain was made pretty early. Whether they could co-exist long term I guess we'll never know but I have to think there was some truth to it all. I heard it enough through Hockey circles to understand why he would have made that move.

Defending Chia or not he did make moves that got that club in the PO's few years back and that was without Hall in the lineup. Didn't hear a lot of Chia bashing then.

A few tweaks and they'll be back in the PO's this season.

I know I like to joke about, and also be a bit sarcastic at times. Sure I was joking about Hughes being the next Bobby Orr to poke the masses here.

But after watching clips of Hughes skating abilities, his stick handling, the vision of the ice and the players, well, it really surprised me. This kid has game, I think he will project to be #1-2.

I will also go out on a limb and predict he will be the best defense man the Canucks have ever had to date.

- Makita

Hughes could top out at #2...he won't be a true #1 but who knows with the depth chart on this club he could be #1 for awhile lol

Actually not really. I'm not an Oiler fan but living between Calgary and Edm I am engulfed in Flames and Oilers crap. Many Oil fans were kind of sick of Hall to be honest. Wouldn't play a 200' game...whining on the ice and throwing tantrums so forth and so on. Many of my friends who are Oilers fans were pretty happy to see the team back in the PO's after Hall was gone. Of course it's easy to take stabs at Chia and the team now after a bad season last year but they'll be back in it soon enough. And the Hall trade will be a distant memory.

Naslund broken leg nope.
MG spent & what did that get us?
President trophys & the mess we are in now. Trading picks at the TDL back fired HUGE. Canning Burke & AV was the beginning of the slippery slope.

McCaw let a business man run the team to make money, refused to invest in a goalie and piddled away the west coast Express.

Weā€™ll see. Iā€™m not a fan and Iā€™m not surrounded by Oilers fans, but it seems to me like Chiaā€™s bad choices are negating the positives that having the best player in the league on your team brings.

You should see the fabbro to vancouver rumors with all nashvilles D locked up. Hilarity on twitter
- Codes1087

Whats the cost?
Fabbro to van would be sweet. Would for sure help shore up the RHD prospects which is by far and away the biggest hole we have.

Would Goldobin, Hutton and a 3rd get it done?

First of all the Canucks have been rebuilding for the last 4 years . That is why they have one of the better prospect pools right now.

Secondly if I was an owner who loved hockey and my team , and spent 80 mil per season on it , I would be in on most things that happen as well as you would. Anyone who says differently is full of sh1t.

- VANTEL

they have been bad in fact the worst team in the nhl. they have not started rebuilding, they have been trying to be competittive. there is a difference, if they had started rebuilding we would have loads of additional prospects instead we have drafted less than we should have even if no trades were made.

I think Aquilini just got tired of Linden as well, he wanted complete control and he's seems like a high maintenance kinda guy. Word is he got pretty tired of Linden threatening to quit if he didn't get his own way all the time.
- LeftCoaster

i would quit to with the direction of this team. would you want your name and brand associated with this dumpster fire?
