I know I like to joke about, and also be a bit sarcastic at times. Sure I was joking about Hughes being the next Bobby Orr to poke the masses here.
But after watching clips of Hughes skating abilities, his stick handling, the vision of the ice and the players, well, it really surprised me. This kid has game, I think he will project to be #1-2.
I will also go out on a limb and predict he will be the best defense man the Canucks have ever had to date. - Makita
I hope you're right. As i said earlier, when it comes to our Canucks, I have no problem eating crow, when I am wrong, which is quite often.π
His skating reminds me of Bret Hedican who I always thought was a fantastic skater and could bring the puck up to the opposition blueline with ease, after that...well another story.
Hopefully Hughes is the real deal, I am just a little apprehensive. |

Just got back in from putting my sledgehammer to my pink himalayan salt slab, it is now fine granular salt...does that count as pound salt? |

Curious on this...
Who here would pick Dobson over Hughes?
I liked both but Hughes was obvious. - Nighthawk
I had Hughes at 4. I was thinking Dobson or a forward for the Canucks... Hughes was a surprise and a no brainer.

a lot of boards, including the Canucks, had him at 3. His skill/skating package is as good as it gets. The only thing missing is the size and shot but I see a top pairing guy for sure. I agree his floor is lower, but 1D's rarely go 1st overall. Last one since Dahlin was ekblad and before that was much further back. Centers just get valued higher, I think it's just easier to scout/predict what will translate. - neem55
He was talking about dobson. No team had him at three. His floor isn't a top pair |

The power play was a nice surprise last year, 9th best in the league, not sure it'll be as good this year with the Sedins gone but hopefully Pettersson can fill that void left by them.
The penalty kill was another story though, bottom 10. |

PK does come down to face-offs often times. Beagle is a major upgrade to play pk2. Defencemen are the issue there, not a lot of skill outside Edler/Tanev |

Man Ellis with another team-friendly deal and with huge term. Guy really seems like the team player we all should want on the Canucks. Nashville is very lucky. |

I am not sold on Hughes as a potential #1, maybe a 4/5 guy, Dobson I see as a future #1, at worst a #2.
Just my opinion though. - Reubenkincade
Mine too. Also why I hoped for Dobson. I see Hughes as a 2nd pair guy and QB of PP1. I think Joulevi will be on the top pair playing those tough all purpose minutes like how I think Dobson will play out. But who knows. |

I think you answered your own question about Quinn Hughes and Noah Dobson. "types of players".
I don't see Dobson being a true number #1 personally. I also don't see Hughes as a #1 either.
Hughes will probably put up more points then Dobson will. Dobson will probably have a more rounded out defensive game then Hughes ever will.
Vancouver needs both players but could only draft 1.
The reason i disliked the pick was because JB has been talking about a RHD for so long. There doesn't project to be many real good RHD next season. Quite a few LHD again though.
We all know what the depth chart looks like in Vancouver about 15 guys on the left and 2 on the right. - manvanfan
Dobson will be 25 minute a night top pairing guy. Hughes will put up loads of points.
Dobson = Pietranglo
Hughes = Ryan Ellis +
Both are needed. Like I said I would have thrown the kitchen sink at the oilers for 10th OA. |

He would be a nice addition.
Maybe he will be one of the high profile college guys that goes the 4 years and signs with his hometown team.π |

I have a feeling irwin/weber/emelin/bitetto get waived or traded to make room for him before he is ever traded. |

Sedins had 9 goals 40 PP pts
Bo and Brock had 20 goals PP 36 pts
Sven had 7 G 9pt
Edler and Pouliot did well also
I think the second unit stepped up last year and it should be very interesting this year. |
