My wife grew up in poverty so her mother could stay with a drug addict. They had a house over their head but running water, heat, food was not always there. Not an easy life but her mother acts like she was an amazing mother.

My wife acknowledges that her mother gave her life and somehow barely kept her alive as a youth. Kicked her out with a 6 month old baby when she was 18 years old and a week out of high school. Booted out her older sister when she was 16 years old.

My wife has said that her mother kicking her out was the best thing that she ever did for her because she didn't have to be around her anymore.

When I met my wife, she never said anything but she had been living in a women's shelter for 2 months. She mentioned she wanted to go to university but couldn't because she was living in a women's shelter. She moved into my house a week later. 4 years later graduated as an RPN and her mother claimed it was because of everything she did for her that she was able to graduate.

Funny how parents view themselves sometimes. Had this discussion with my GF this very day. Her Mom/Dad were brutal parents to her and her two sisters but yet the parents take credit for all of the great things the girls have done...funny how that works.

Funny how parents view themselves sometimes. Had this discussion with my GF this very day. Her Mom/Dad were brutal parents to her and her two sisters but yet the parents take credit for all of the great things the girls have done...funny how that works.
