I am glad we are worried about the E draft today
Little disappointed that I didn't see Gaince or Karlsson on the protected list though - VANTEL

You could easily replace Holland with Benning and print this on Canucks Army. I guess my response would be, why does it have to be one way or the other? Signing an Eriksson reeks of desperation to remain competitive while the results clearly show any number or less expensive replacement players could have accomplished the same result, and potentially yielded an extra pick at some point during the life of the contract. - 1970vintage
Under the impression that these other players would of had the same results with Van as they did with other teams. A lot of free agents probably don't want to come to Vancouver.
It would take a lot of time to figure out who has yielded same results as other cheaper free agents.
Pickings aren't as plenty and results aren't always the exact same way. Yes LE has not even remotely lived up to his contract. In free agency probably only a couple of players that make near league min do anything that year. Generally those players are coming out of nowhere. |

Why is Eriksson considered a Benning contract when everything had to be signed off by Trevor and the owner? |

Outbidding other teams for the best of a bad bunch is never a prudent strategy. There will always be players needing a job opportunity. I'm not saying teams should never pay a premium, but trying to be competitive by over spending has never worked out. |

they did the same this year with beagle saying that was what the market dictates, well then you walk away from the market and sign a guy like letestu to a 1 year deal for half the annual hit and maybe get something for him.. |

The bad bunch we have had on our bottom 6 for years and years , how did it work out?
Rousell and Beagle are some of the better bottom 6 guys in the league. You can't keep rolling out crap players like Gaunce Dowd and the other dumpster talent that they have employed since 2012 and expect better results.
Maybe guys like you want to save money that is not yours but I want entertaining hockey |

So Beagle Roussel and Schaller are Green signings then |

Yeah, i want entertaining hockey too, i just dont see how having the best 4th line in the league accomplishes that. Injecting talent that pushes marginal players down instead of injecting marginal players pushing slightly less marginal players up sounds like a better solution to me. |

Because trevor said no and Benning had to convince aquaman to sign off on it. |

Um.... beagle and rousell are decent 4th liners. But ask lefty if they're exciting. I'd say no. |

Other than the term for Beagle and Roussel, I don't have an issue with these signings.
What they do, is push these marginal players right out, which is fine by me.
These signings also help insulate the youth that will be injected into the lineup over the next few seasons, allowing them to play in roles more suited for them.
Marginal players like Goldobin, Gaunce, Gagner ànd Granlund will have to bring it every night if they expect to be in the nhl much longer. |

Vantel is Benning... it's the only possible thing that makes sense with his constant apologetic behavior. |

I would rather see Gaudette as a 4th line C, provided he demonstrates he is ready for the NHL at camp. Let Sutter insulate him from the 3rd line. Teams only get last change at home, unless Beagle is playing 17 minutes a night how is he going to help Horvat/Boeser? Every road game the kids are going to see the toughest matchups... |

unless he is so far ahead of others, I'd want him to go to Utica and play a bigger role there. Develop.
TG isn't going to be playing him 10 minutes a night until Gaudette earns his trust.
There is ready to play and then there is ready to play 5 minutes a game and look like you belong.
In a way I'm glad we have some vets in front of these prospects because I don't want to rush them into the lineup.
and guess I will be calling for guys to be given a shot at the start of the season.
save me from myself. |

They are not exciting but they are solid players that can isulate your top two lines considering they are most likely going to be quite young. We aren’t playing them for the excitement, we are playing them so others can be exciting. Role players. |

At this stage in his career Horvat shouldn't need insulating, what he needs is another centre/offensive line to help.
I don't think many teams are giving away top 6 centres, which is why Petterson and the 2019 draft is so important for this franchise too get another top centre.
If Gaudette has a good camp he will be on the team, so far, I see 3 centres making this team, Horvat, Sutter and Beagle. |
