He's probably had one of the most favourable five years of drafting (6-23-5-5-7) as any GM in the history of the Canucks, that said, all the drafts look good until years later when you look back on them, history should tell you that.
Until I'm able to look back and see some success, his drafting is no better or worse than the last few guys. But like I said, his draft positions certainly give him a slight advantage. - LeftCoaster
Boeser, Petterson, Hughes will only be surpassed by Bure, Sedin, Sedin. |

I agree that it is too early yet, as I usually give about 6 years after a draft to judge, I just like how he has selected a nice variety of players, from offensive defensemen, like Rathbone Brassard and Hughes, 2 way minute munchers like Juolevi Woo and Brisebois, and a various skill type players up front.
Just hope we can get another quality centre and defensemen next draft.
Yes , I realize not all prospects make it. Lol |

Traded Baertschi, Granlund, Hutton if you could. I'm sure JB would have done the same. You want to target a more offensive center. What if the Offensive center didn't pan out? How well did Skille do? What about Hartnell?
Your plan seems so much better then the one that happened. Wait, no it doesn't. It sounds like your own made up fantasy.
I still don't see anywhere in your plans to get better players to push others down. - manvanfan
What if he did? So there. |

Ryan would be an upgrade on all our forwards except Horvat and Boeser |

It’s the exact same argument day in day out.
When oh when are people going to get over Eriksson and his contract or Beagle or Gaunce or Linden, good god people - Makita
Exact (frank)ing thing. My god the season can’t start fast enough.
Let’s get back to hating and disrespecting each other. At least that was entertaining. |

The trades for Ehrhoff, Higgins, Lapierre, Horvat were all good trades, signing Torres, Demitra, Hamhuis, Malhotra and Samuelsson was also good. To go along with some very bad.
You've gotta see it from both sides... - LeftCoaster
At least Gillis put together an entertaining team to watch and a pain in the ass to play against.
I miss those days. |

Those trades and PTO's done the team real well over the years.
Funny how Utica fans are disliking Johnson and he is there GM and up here in Canuck land he's getting all sorts of praise. Grass is always greener on the other side.
Hated Gillis for leaving the cupboards empty and having a competitive team. Now hate Benning because the cupboards are filling and the team sucks.
Can FA not just find a GM that is able to have the cupboards stocked at all times plus win the teams first ever stanley cup. Shouldn't be that hard. |

I think my days of commenting on Donna are over.
I’m trying to be more of a team player now that there is a glimmer of hope with this franchise. |

Yup. Need 3 more top end players. Hopefully that's EP, QH and someone else.
Better goaltending and the rest will take care of itself |

Still a problem with the front office though. Just takes another stupid move to derail this train. |

Those draft positions are cuz of MG selling out. Imagine if he had an ounce of a clue about drafting how much better we would sit now. JB could still do fine picking later. |
