I hope he gets thru waivers.
- Feanor

I think he will. Aren't many job openings and he's coming off two knee surgeries

just weird to me you're trying to go at him because he might have liked a prospect. who cares?
- Ftown19125

if you interpret that as going at someone, than damn. sad world we live in today.

On a less deep team he'd have more of a shot, but Vorobyev and NAK are just better prospects.

Vecchione also doesn't have to go thru waivers (unlike Leier or Martel or Goulbourne), so sticking him on the Phantoms carries no risk.

- Feanor

I was/am one of the guys who think Vecchione could play in the NHL, but that doesn't mean he's a lock for the roster. We have the potential to put together a very good bottom 6 right now. There are going to be NHL caliber players in the Phantoms this year, he's likely one of them.

He also doesn't have the upside (as Feanor states) as Vorobyev or NAK. He's 26 right now and he is what he is. I think he's a better choice than Knight, but I doubt Knight is on the opening roster when all said and done.

Maybe if he had played all year, I would be more concerned, but as of now, I am not too worried.

Then how would you interpret it? I find it amusing that some prospect you liked hasn't shown anything. It's just a dumb comment, who cares if he did like him? Wasn't him anyway though, but good attempt.

I could Knight getting the edge only if they are looking at some point to carry a spare forward that can be used on the pk when he plays.

15 of the 33 players from Hextall's first season are no longer in the NHL. That's probably a normal level of attrition, but it's interesting to see these old names, some of whom were major contributors just a few years ago. The list doesn't include Hartnell (36), who's also out of the league.

so 14 (13 RIP) players that aren't good enough and 1 guy that is definitely an NHL player but just doesn't have a spot or team interested enough

I think one of the things that hurt Vecchione's short term chances was the Flyers lucking into drafting Nolan Patrick and this was before Giroux was moved over to wing.

Having a guy like Patrick who was phyisically ready at 19 to play in the NHL probably pushed the center depth chart downwards in such a way that a guy like Vecchione would have a tougher climb.

Unless there are injuries, trades, etc, he may have to go elsewhere to get a sniff of the NHL.

I have no doubt Carter Hart will be an injury call up by December 1st given the Flyers' goaltending medical situation(s).

it more bothers me at the thought that someone maybe gave their opinion on a prospect, maybe they were high on that prospect, and it didn't turn out how they thought it would or hoped. so this clown is going to rub it in that person's face now?

I don't really get a chance to see most prospects playing besides maybe preseason. So all I know is what I read. I appreciate the input from people here that have more exposure to these players than I do, obviously.

I don't think Hart is called up unless he is going to be the starter. If it is to sit behind Elliott then i think they will use Stolarz and let Hart play in Lehigh.
