Peter Tessier: The 2nd line and Jets lose 7-3 to Oilers
A look at the Jets 2nd line and what changes might have to come to it if we see the old results of Ehlers Little and Laine come back. - Peter.Tessier
Sour Grapes ? I expected better out of you... don't stoop to Tanner levels. |

Peter...Your lines are a very real possibility as opposed to a dream. I'd say almost 50/50 chance. We shall see. |

Further to Logan Stanley - Morrissey needed a full season with the Moose at the start of his career, so what’s the big deal if Stanley needs that or more ? |

it is not a big deal,
reading and may I add contributing to some criticisms of our younger prospects I have to remember a couple things. Sheifele got raked over the coals for his one time bambi legs and how weak on his feet he was, Morrisey was called a bust by some when he didn't make the jump quick enough. I also think the fan base doesn't have the same patience they did 5 years ago because we are in a pretty good window of opportunity right now. This is why Stanley is getting raped on social media and ( this one shocks me ) the amount of people already saying Roslovic cant play center.

Agree with your opening statement "last night's game is no indication on the Jets or the Oilers for that matter."
TLC line is intact, no one is or should be breaking that line up imop.
Your line projections of or a combination of the below has a good chance to be exactly that on opening day unless Dano has a major malfunction in the remaining games. There's intrigue with the rookie Vesalainen but Dano hasn't looked like he does not belong there either. 2 games two goals, nice move inside the line to score last night, I don't know but it might be his position to lose. Maybe the motivation of sitting in the press box lit a fire under his butt and he finally absorbed the message. But, Vesalainen is pushing, so is Lemieux, so the competition for that one and only spot is tight.
Connor Scheitle Wheeler
Perreault Little Laine
Ehler Roslovic Dano
Lowry Copp Tanev
At this point, possible but too many exhibition games left for a final projection. |

I didn't mention Petan in my previous post as he is away on personal leave.
His father passed away which we all send our condolences. When they have shown his parents in the stands, they appear to be younger folks. A real difficult time for Nic. |

Was thinking same, Mr.Petan seemed fairly young. I remember his excitement at the WJC a few years back. |

A bit rusty. Preseason, so now is the time to shake the rust. He whiff'd on a pass, but its preseason. Takes a bit of time. I mean the first game was a combination of hockey, shinny and swarm puck. |

"But hey it's pre-season the best time of year in Edmonton because their hopes are not dashed like they usually are by the end of October."
Damn there sure is a lot of salt coming out of Winnipeg today. It looks like you Jet fans are actually making it a bigger deal than Oiler fans lol. This is also laughable considering how bad the Jets have been since moving back to the peg. One good year and you act like cup champs. |

"I'm sure Oilers faithful will be rather flush with praise for Rattie. But hey it's pre-season the best time of year in Edmonton because their hopes are not dashed like they usually are by the end of October."
You'd swear WPG didn't miss the playoffs 5/6 years before this past season |

Yes very sad. He was very close with his father, and yes that hat toss was a big highlight of the tourney. Tough timing for Nik as that third line spot may have been his. Still two weeks plus to go so he still has a chance here to come back and play hard. I'll be cheering for him to be the one who makes it.

I have to say that I have been hasty in wanting the Jets to promote rookies when it seems that they are ready. After watching the 1st 2 preseason games the only rookies/young players that have a chance of making the Jets roster are Roslovic, Poolman, Vesailainen and Lemieux. Niku, Stanley, Appleton and the rest would benefit from more time with the Moose. Maybe if injuries hit or the kids are truly ready, will any of the kids get called up to play some games, protected by the vets. |

That was an entertaining finish. I watched the game on TSN Go on my tablet and the Bomber game on the main tv at home, simultaneously.
Quite the finish with Buf scoring two goals, the winner in OT. |

Yes Guy.
Buff Rounding into Norris fourm before the season even starts.
Jets are going to have a very strong defence again this year, with the massively overrated Trouba or without him. Team Eye Test doesn’t think he makes much of a difference. Surprised Chevy didn’t trade his ass this summer as he’s been nothing but a pain.
I’m looking for big seasons from Wheels, Roslovic, Matty Pro and Little. |

Thank you for the perfect segue!
Here’s a new stat model I noticed on twitter. Puts Trouba in the top ten among NHL defencemen: https://twitter.com/cmhoc.../1043514215313629189?s=21 |

Hi Rexy.
Checked out the link. Wondering what BPM stands for?
Blind Phony Metrics?
I’ve been tempted to consider this type of info,
but believe “The Failing Analytics Community” to just be a fad that will soon fade...
Nothing personal, I enjoy your Hot Takes.
Scheifele and Laine combine for 180 plus points this year I’d bet, second only to Tavares/Matthews at 240 or better. |
