Wanted by the German in Buffalo to start this season

ESPN has not been a good source for anything hockey related in decades, but I did go through their rankings of each team's forward, defense and goaltending groups. Buffalo was 25th, 26th and 26th respectively. Now I understand that there is some question marks in each aspect and no one knows how the team will perform, but I feel each one is ranked quite a bit lower than what they will actually do.

Again, this is coming from ESPN.

Good call.

Regarding the preseason results, my biggest concern is that Housley overreacts to the inevitable learning mistakes that will come from playing Mitts and Dahlin (they are ready to learn from their mistakes) and surrounds them with "safe" slugs instead of the likes of Thompson, Nylander or even Rodrigues.

For all the talk about Housley's uptempo, somewhat risky defense philosophy, he seems incredibly risk adverse to tough roster decisions. The Sabres must have one of the biggest rosters still.

I'm fine with the Sabres poopting the bed occasionally if it means we get to watch players with an actual future.
