I didn't see the game, and having read your summary, i'm also pretty disappointed in their home-effort and performance, especially of Pacs!

He was one of their best forwards. Vegas didn't look sharp after the first 10 minutes. Fleury wasn't on. Elliott played well.

What the hell was with the ceremonial puck drop? That was a cluster(frank) if I ever saw one.

Y'know, a lazy blogger would have looked at the stat sheet, saw that Provorov was a -1 while failing to register a point regardless of his team potting 5, and wouldn't have thought to give the man any praise. Well done for seeing this future star for what he is, and his impact on his team. Cincin.

The league seems to give Gostisbehere his dues, and he's earned that, but Flyers fans are head over heels for Provorov more than anyone (aside from perhaps that infernal mascot). This kid sees the game and it's complexities at an incredible level for being such a young athlete and should be a Norris candidate before too long, even if he isn't tallying 55+ points per season on a regular basis. His vision, instincts, and hockey sense are off the charts.

People are so quick to think of all these scenarios where a player is wrongfully given a shot attempt against to poke holes at advanced statistics, when in reality I think situations like these (integral to the play without recording a point and sometimes without a +/-) have a larger effect on stats.

Just important to remember that a lot can be lost when only focusing on a specific stat, no matter how fancy it is.

FWIW, relative to his own play, Provorov didn't have a great game, but it was cool to see Sheng specifically point out how one of his best plays went unnoticed.

I think Vegas takes a MASSIVE step back this year. They are not going to catch anyone sleeping on them like they did last year.

Thanks for the kind words, everybody!

It never even occurred to me to look at the scoresheet in this case
