Edit: if we did a sign and trade they would likely have to add another piece. If it isn't a sign a trade I think Leafs would have to do a 1 for 1 trade unfortunately.

Chill, the contract stuff is just money and percentage of the cap etc, has nothing to do with how good a player is. Why would you even want to have the highest paid player in the league on your team in a salary cap world? All that does is limit your ability to add other good players, I'm sure 99% of Leaf fans would rather Matthews be paid much less than McD, both because of the cap and the fact that McD is the best player in the league right now.

Kapenen continues to produce with AM, Kadri will finally get some talent on his line.

Brown/Kadri/Nylander would be a pretty good 3rd line.
