It was highly reported Hamilton was available and Nashville was looking for a first line C, so yeah it wasn't out of nowhere - Archaic
Nashville looking for a first line C doesn't mean it was obvious that Seth Jones was on the block. |

Not if you move him for a top pair RHD after he scores 70-80 points playing with Matthews and Tavares on the PP. It's actually a huge win if the final result is a top pair RHD. Did I mention top pair RHD? Because top pair RHD.
RHD. - Unholy_Goalie
This isn’t a video game.
It’s a business. Reputation is huge in business...it’s why Lou still has a job.
This negotiation is larger than a number for Nylander. |

Uggie, probably one of the few times I'll agree with you in regards to Nylander...I think he is expendable at this point as the goals for have indicated in 3 games...it be great to have him on the team, but I agree on any other team I dont see him getting that many goals unless on a line with a 1C.
You keep mentioning a RHD, name this unicorn that you speak of.
As for Karlsson, you are off your rocker. how the hell would the leafs have fit him under the cap with Marner and Mathews coming up and JT already eating 11 mil? |

Carolina wants Nylander, tell them you want Dougie Hamilton.
Karlsson would have fit the same way he'll fit in San Jose with Couture, Burns, Vlasic etc. Gardiner and Hainsey are gone next year, them alone is 9 million in cap space. Zaitsev eats up 4+ million, you'd get rid of him if you had to. Carrick already got moved and he was overpaid. Marleau retires in another year, if not at the end of this year (after getting traded to Arizona). There are plenty of ways to open up cap space, it's just a matter of remembering who the All-Stars are and prioritizing who stays and who goes and bringing up a lot of ELCs like Dermott, Sandin, Liljegren, Kapanen, Johnsson etc. |

He's not. He had no camp, came off an injury, played on a poop team, lost a baby, had a teammate's wife attack him for it and still outscored most defensemen last year. He's in his prime, he's won two Norris trophies and every single Norris winner of the past 30 years has gone to the Cup Finals and the vast majority of them have won the Cup. It absolutely is a huge deal to have a guy like that on your team. He almost got his poop Ottawa team to the Finals by himself. |

They put a condition into the Karlsson trade that if he plays in the Eastern Conference during the 2018-2019 season, the Sharks will have to give up another first.
They weren’t going to trade Karlsson to the East. Get. Over. It. - Steven_Seagull
He's already leading the way for the San Jose Sharks in the minus column. That's the kind of guy I want to trade Nylander, Gardiner and a 1st for. 3 games played, minus 4.

I dont think we need an offensive dman....especially one that suffered that type of injury. not worth the risk IMO.
Just look what Ottawa got back for him. Even SJ thinks it a risk. |

He's a career -40 player. And he scores a lot of points. Meaning he's on the ice for a (frank) ton of goals against. |

I'll give Uggie credit, when he is passionate about something, he certainly goes the length to convince himself its the BEST way....
Tavares will NOT be a maple leaf, he will NOT take a discount to play for his home team, who cares about that bla bla bla... |

San Jose had Burns and they still got him. He's more than an offensive defenseman; he controls the game and he'd have the most dangerous weapons to pass to in Toronto. If you look at San Jose's games, they're killing the teams in possession and shot generation and it's coming from the blueline.
San Jose paid nothing for him because nobody else out there was making a good offer and Ottawa ran out of time to move him (something the Leafs could have exploited) and because nobody wanted a rental. San Jose was okay with either option and will probably sign him to 8 years after the trade deadline.
Would I rather have Drew Doughty? Absolutely. But LA isn't moving him. In fact, nobody is moving anybody like Karlsson and that's why the Leafs missed a huge opportunity to throw their hat into that ring because it so rarely becomes available. |

Plus minus.
Played in Ottawa.
Completely ignore the fact that if you look at total goals for and total goals against, he's always generated way more goals for than goals against. |
