had this idea of hoping they struggle early, house gets cleaned, then they turn it around.
Win/win
But I can’t bring myself to cheer for losses. Even if it is best for the organization.
Id trade that 1st for either of those in a heartbeat.
Kinda Hoping the sens start tanking soon, and potentially stone might be available. (Chabot is the man. Might have ek’s replacement already.)
Or maybe leafs keep winning without nylander and say Fuk him and entertain a deal.
Can’t think of too many defenders that fit the bill and are available.
Just fire todd and peter already and lets move on - HB77
Not a lot of cap space to maneuver with unfortunately so any deal for Stone would be difficult to entertain given his UFA status. I'd be looking hard at the most obvious rebuilders in Detroit and the Rangers and try to pry guys like Kreider or Nyquist out of those to-be-trainwrecks. I stand by my belief that Kreider is about the most ideal target we could hope for.
I'd try to piece together a deal that sent the 1st, Lucic and another piece (maybe a LD is necessary) to New York for Kreider and Smith or Staal. They get big value for taking on the two more years of a big, buyout proof contract and we get a great prime-aged winger and a contract that's easy to buyout. I'd sooner retain 2 to 3mil off Lucic's cap hit and send him with a 2nd or something then focus on value trades but you'd have to imagine it'd be done by now if it was available, right? |

Unfortunately they won't fire them both. If anything, they'll fire McLellan and use one of the assistants as an interim. Then MAYBE fire Chia after the season only if they think Lowe or McTavish are ready to take over again as a GM. |

Anyone trading with Edmonton will be looking to fleece them ala Hall and Eberle deals. If we could somehow trade it would be something like Lucic 2 million retained and a pick for Ryan. And knowing Chia he would bite. |

For our own sake, can we at least assume Chiarelli isn't the one making these deals? |

As far as available Dmen, the sort we're looking for are unlikely to be available. We have to try to find the hidden gems (DeHaan would've been nice if we weren't cap (frank)ed) or wait until Bouchard is ready and live with Russell as a placeholder- which honestly isn't as bad as it's made out to be by many.
The best move might be to take the post-Chia Bruins' approach wherein we keep our picks, draft good bets (D and Cs high), maybe cash-in next year's Lafreniere ticket for some present value and keep patient as the next wave (Benson, Marody, Jones, Maksimov, McLeod, etc) pushes up through the ranks.
Nuge- McDavid- ______
Top 6- Draisaitl- Puljujarvi
Khaira- Strome- Rieder
Caggiula- Brodziak- ______
Yamamoto, Benson, Marody, Maksimov and McLeod in the AHL
Klefbom- Larsson
Nurse- Russell
Jones- Bear/Bouchard
Bouchard/Bear, Berglund and Lagesson in the AHL
2.5mil retained off Lucic's contract and Sekera on LTIR (maybe) |

I’d be cool with offering the 2020 Lafrenière 1st to all takers.
Anyone in Detroit will probably be available by November. That club has 09-10 Oilers written all over it. Maybe they’d be willing to take on Lucic for a 1st, but he sure as hell won’t be willing to go there.
I’m not really sure that the Rangers would actually part with Kreider. He’s one if the few legitimate star players remaining on their roster, and they don’t seem to wanna go full scorched earth just yet.

McDavid has requested a trade. My sources are never wrong. McDavid for Severson. - WayneZ
I'm waiting for the day he asks out of this poopshow. Not happily waiting, but bracing for it |

I wanna express some early excitement about my 2017 draft favourite Henri Jokiharju playing well on the top pairing in Chicago. (frank) you, Kailer Yamamoto |
