Brent Burns is 6'5, what does his height have to do with offensive capabilities? Two completely different style defenseman with different assets, but I'm not sure height can be used an excuse being offensively handicapped lol. I will agree that he wasn't acquired to score either, so its more so about utilizing what he was supposed to be brought in for, and that is where the question starts. - Codes1087
His height is irrelevant. Just pointing out that it’s foolish to expect any offence from the guy. He is there to be a physical deterrent. Sadly he isn’t very good at that |

Both players suck. It’s just funny you randomly cried about it today. It’s been years and you should move on from your McCann heart break - CanuckDon
It seems like a topic that still gets people riled up. If it wasn't, my comment would not have led to an entire page of hate. |

The height is irrelevant, that was my point, I was just responding in regards to your "Where you expecting offence from a 6’5 dman?". The DNA of Burns and Gudbranson are completely different in how they play. Anyone expecting offensive contributions from him are crazy. Its nearly the same way we don't expect it from Tanev. Objectively, the question remains, if he wasn't brought in for his offense, what was he brought in for, and is he exceeding or living up to those expectations. That is where people can objectively say whether or not they like Gudbranson. If you hate Gudbranson because he doesn't put up points, well, then you hate him for all the wrong reasons imo.
And when I say "you", I meant people in general, not specifically you Donny. I know you like him lol |

What would you prefer to argue about instead? How about Leipsic on waivers, or trading Tanev? Eriksson to Utica, firing JB? I'm open to suggestions. |

Jeez, deep dive into Eriksson's season so far. He's over 64% O-zone starts (the level people criticized the Twins for getting as it was "too easy") and he's barely playing any PK. And by barely I really mean it. Averaging 8 seconds a game.
Would it surprise you to hear that his impact on offence has cratered even further somehow too? |

I'm not a Red Sox fan but damn you have to respect the season they have had so far, and the success that organization has managed to maintain over the years. Obviously being able to spend whatever they want helps. |

You can still hate him for not being good at anything defensively.
Doesn't box the front of the net out well, equal or worse than Pouliot in the corners, doesn't nut up in the physical game often, chases hits and gets out of position (last night he hit a dude to the ice and that guy got back to the front of the net before Gudbranson did), he doesn't prevent zone entries worth a damn, he ices the puck a lot and his passing isn't remotely good enough even when he has time and space and multiple options.
It reminds me of Mark Fistric when he got to the Oilers. People complained of a lot of the same stuff there but Spector/Rishaug "BUT HE'S TOUGH AND HE'S AN NHLER SO HE'D DOMINATE A LOWER LEAGUE BECAUSE HE'S STILL SUPER AMAZING AND TOUGH".
Then after Fistric couldn't get an NHL deal anymore he went to play Sr AAA in Alberta and he couldn't make puck plays in that league 2 years removed from an NHL contract. |

Those guys who were supposed to go top 10 and somehow fall to you at 24 or 32 are always great picks.instead of "I can't believe he's stil there at x" GM's should be asking "why is this kid still available, what are we missing". |

They also happen to be one of the younger teams in the league, with plenty of guys in their first three years of pro ball contributing. |

how come slip and slappy goes full on blind rage at me for objectively disliking Gudbranson based on comprehensive and objective dislike for his defense, but you get to say this, and you won't even get a slap on the wrist. |

Slippy is way too busy to worry about a lightweight like Linden. You are firmly in his cross hairs though. |
